****How is the Clarence Thomas book?****

It's pretty interesting. I'm almost finished. Got about 50 pages to go.

It would make a wonderful movie.

Of course, that can never happen . . .

Most of these State Department people were never removed from their jobs. They and/or their children are still probably there, causing their havoc.

The people they hired, and the people THOSE people hired, sure are. I'm about a third of the way through the book and I'm having to take frequent (and lengthy) anger breaks.

The Chinese are not “today’s Reds.”

The Marxists in the State Department, the fifth column, Hollywood, the UN, and the people running openly as Marxists in the Obama/Hillary campaign.

The problem with McCarthy losing is that “being a communist” is no longer assailable. Try a test of “Jay-walking” on the sidewalk with young kids: Ask them to rate “McCartyism” 1-to-10 and then “Communism” 1-to10..you know what you’ll find.

For crying out loud, Che Guevara is a pop-culture American Hero and Dick Winters and Greg Boyington are sidenotes.

The other thing you should consider: there is NOTHING in the Constitution which keeps Kruschev’s goal form happening without a shot.

There are probably more people in America today who would swallow a Communist Party taking the Presidency and Congree today than voted for Goldwater.

It doesn’t matter anymore if McCarthy was right. He LOST the propaganda waar in a way larger than he could imagine. Actually it’s awful that he lost, -because- he was right.

Reds are evil and practice seditious overthrow of our Constitutional form of government.

No. They. Do. Not.

At least, not anymore.

Reds are evil and practice seditious legal, democratic populist overthrow of our Constitutional form of government.

McCarthy, good intentions aside, lost us the propaganda war for the last half-century.

The left uses his ashes as a scaffold to sell their wicked wares to a larger audience.

Sorry to disagree.

McCarthy bought our nation time, if nothing else.

He DID win, but paid for it with his life and reputation.

McCarthy bought our nation time, if nothing else.

And Robt Lee fought on after Gettysburg, and also delayed the inevitable.

I'm not saying McCarthy is responsible for making communist adoration acceptable in Presidential Campaign offices today...nor would I say that General Lee was responsible for the collapse of States' Rights....

But they were both on scene at their respective critical inflection points in Freedom's history.

I kind of jokingly paraphrased Ann Coulter in her description of the stuffed shirt guys with three names who dabbled in communism and socialism in their youth, but their parents never got all that upset because they knew they would eventually return to more traditional ideologies once they “grew up”.

McCarthy DID make that mindset somewhat passe. After that, nobody viewed dabbling in communism as a youthful indulgence.

Besides, while it is apparent there ARE people at high levels of our government now who would be considered (and in some cases clearly are) communist or socialist, with the exception of someone like Bernie Sanders, they all understand it is political suicide to tell the unvarnished truth about their predilections.

while it is apparent there ARE people at high levels of our government now who would be considered ... communist or socialist,... they all understand it is political suicide to tell the unvarnished truth about their predilections.

I would be pleased and relieved to find out that was true.

But let's check back in at the next Supreme Court confirmation hearing. I suspect a Hillary or Obama appointee will say some things about 'change' that will be completely demoralizing in this regard.

I have to heartily disagree. It was entrenched Communists and 'useful idiots' in U.S. government and the media who vilified McCarthy and turned his courageous truths upside-down. Yes, the Left uses its mythical "McCarthyism" to sell its wares but blame the real villains, not McCarthy.

It was the CYA Democrat Truman administration, the Tydings Committee, the Edward R. Murrows's, etc. who turned truth into populist lies -- and it continues today. Blaming McCarthy for evils done by our collective enemies seems to me an ultimate perversion of reality.

Meanwhile I agree that the Marxists are engaged in the "legal, democratic populist overthrow of our Constitutional form of government." They achieve that by the means I outlined in Post 28:

"Their great secret weapons from the beginning have been a lazy and uninformed American electorate, the Big Lie, historical revisionism and control of mass communications media...[they]are expert at demolishing 'inconvenient truths' about themselves."

this is the letter that Whittaker Chambers wrote to his children. I found it emotionally wrenching to read, but uplifting at the same time.

That letter is both an anti-Communist and literary classic. Chambers was revealing on so many levels. I've often wondered what motivates the Communist ideal and makes so many of its followers such zealots. I re-read the following recently and compared it with the rhetoric of the Obama campaign, Code Pink, etc. I recommend that we all do it.

"Communists are bound together by no secret oath. The tie that binds them across the frontiers of nations, across barriers of language and differences of class and education, in defiance of religion, morality, truth, law, honor, the weaknesses of the body and the irresolutions of the mind, even unto death, is a simple conviction: It is necessary to change the world.

"Their power, whose nature baffles the rest of the world, because in large measure the rest of the world has lost that power, is the power to hold convictions and to act on them. It is the same power that moves mountains; it is also an unfailing power to move men. Communists are that part of mankind which has recovered the power to live or die -- to bear witness -- for its faith. And it is a simple, rational faith that inspires men to live or die for it.

"...It is the great alternative faith of mankind. Like all great faiths its force derives from a simple vision. Other ages have had great visions. They have always been different visions of the same vision: the vision of God and man's relationship to God. The Communist vision is the vision of Man without God."

I wonder how many people reading this retain the real power -- in their heart of hearts -- to hold convictions and to act on them?

Actually, I don’t think we really disagree on the end result.

I simply think that those enemies of the Constitution will pursue their goals all the while trying to mislead the uneducated, uncaring, unaware, or un-astute voting members of our society.

They will never, ever come out and say in plain English that they are Communists or Socialists until it is too late.

Those of us who do pay attention will understand since we are used to having to parse out and read between the lines of these people, and we will try to ring a clarion bell or sound a tocsin, and it will be up to us to do it on our own, since we will not be able to count on the government we have elected or the media to help us in this regard.

What is perhaps most disturbing of all is to see that the Left practices the exact same form of character assassination warfare today that it practiced fifty years ago against Whittaker Chambers.

"Swiftboating," anyone?

I bought this book today. I was honestly surprised it was there (at B.Dalton). I also bought a book on Teddy Roosevelt that was on sale.
