The article goes on to interview Knut's doctor who says: He (Knut) is a carnivore and it would not be surprising if he would bite.

Wasn’t there some concern that the bear, being raised by humans, would lose his natural instincts? Doesn’t the second photo show that he has retained at least some of them?

I handle livestock every day and I’d have to say that if he’s displaying the polar bear’s natural instincts as a predator, the handling he received was in some degree successful. He’s behind plexiglass; the little boy was perfectly safe and learned a valuable lesson about “our animal friends.” (as long as they don’t send Knut to the San Francisco Zoo...)
