Doubty, you think McCain will do a 180 and be against amnesty? If he did that now he would capture the vote of many conservatives who will not accept him now because of his pro illegal stance. Did I get you wrong?

Regards

John currently states that he is going to get the border under control before he does anything else. That leads me to think he’s still intent on doing ‘something else’.

Could a promise to give up the transitioning of illegal immigrants inside our nation to citizens end opposition to John? I don’t know.

Here’s one caviot that I’m not sure everyone considers with regard to this issue. What if John does close the border, does put policies in place that would cause illegals to repatriate to Mexico? Would that be the end of it? It is my understanding that John wants to put in place a work visa program that will allow millions of Mexican immigrants to pour into our nation.

In effect, John would be legalizing what has been taking place illegally. All the same social pressures would exist, but now it would be legal.

John isn’t going to cause illegals here now to return home. He may make a cursory effort to close the border. But once he is in office, I expect to see a legal flood of Mexican nationals enter this nation to answer the call of business.

Job displacement will occur, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for McCain and company.

Some people who felt that it was vitally important to keep a Republican in the White House would buy off on ‘the promise’ if it were offered. I’m sure many others would not.

I personally don’t trust John McCain at all. That’s me. I don’t know how many others have the same perception of him.

This year more than any other, it seemed to me that our candidates had many cob webs in their closets. We were being asked to forget about them. And what you address here, is yet another instance of that, should John make the promise you have outlined.

This is the year when we were asked to forget about anything that happened yesterday or prior to it, be very charitable about comments made today, and buy off on the idea that tomorrow was going to be a better day with no track record whatsoever to indicate that might be the reasonable thing to do.

If John made that promise, those who could buy off on the above concept would undoubtedly support him. And those who couldn’t, wouldn’t.

You can count me in the later group.
