I heard from an Army Captain who was the head of a rifle platoon; supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon ended up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of those soldiers had been sent to Iraq. As a consequence, they didn't have enough ammunition, they didn't have enough humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current Commander in Chief. Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill)
(Washington DC) Vets for Freedom questions the recent comments by Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill) in the Democratic debate last night, in which he stated that American troops were capturing Taliban weapons because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than get equipped by our current Commander in Chief.
Yet again Senator Obama has demonstrated the loose grip he holds on the reality of these conflicts, said Vets for Freedom State Captain, and Afghanistan Army veteran Daniel Bell. Senator Obamas comments are insulting not only to those who have served and are still serving in Afghanistan but to all who serve in the armed forces. I can attest from my first hand experience that these comments are incredulous and that we were supplied all the tools necessary to complete our missions.
He continued His statements last night assert that he lacks the necessary knowledge to make serious judgments on military matters, that he is prone to dangerous exaggeration, and that he is grossly unaware of the facts on the ground. I call on other veterans of Afghanistan to respond to these ridiculous allegations and to remind Senator Obama that it is the sacrifice of those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan that allows him to so freely speak in this manner.
Obama is SO dangerous!!!! Totally clueless. How does a guy that spent only 7 years in a state senate and then made a pit stop at the men's room in the US senate get to be POTUS/CiC???
I fear for our country!
The only reason that I can see for McCain not jumping all over this is... he’s “reaching across the aisle” again.
We shoulda known.
Its OK, Obama will take care of it when he becomes President since McCain is so evil.
That would make it President Hussein Obama. Has a certain ring to it doesn’t it?
Mayhap Vets for Freedom will by Obamas Swift Boat one can only hope.
Thing of it is that his complaints can ALLLLL be traced back to the military CUTS done under the Clintons. Now do you remember lord McCain complaining about how vast and deep the Clintons were cutting the military?
McCain needs to jump down this purse-carrying muslim meteosexual’s throat and clue him in about combat.
If this was a five year old story and the lack of equipment was due to Clinton’s military cuts then Mr.Obama had quite the nerve calling into question Pres.Bush’s “judgment”.
And apparently there was much in what he said that was factually incorrect.
What a lightweight.
One has to wonder IF this letter was NOT passed off by that other Senator the one from New York, considering how long she has been sitting on the Armed Forces Committee. She sure knew which committee needed her attention the most. Her need to be on that particular committee probably dates back to the days when her wall builder Gorelick worked at the Pentagon. Did Hillary go to Afghanistan for a visit with her future military? (I do not remember if she only went to Iraq or if she made it to Afghanistan.)
Interesting who else is on that Senate Armed Forces Committee and yet I NEVER hear about what the Clintons did to the military. No all I ever hear out of that other presidential Senate candidate is how he decapitated RUMMY.
Also, it appears the Army itself, has some serious questions.
Military Questions Obamas Claim That Under-Equipped Troops Used Taliban Weapons
Even Sen Warner, ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, wrote to Obama asking for specifics of the allegations, noting he’d question Army officials scheduled to appear before the committee on Tuesday.
