HILLARY: HEALTH CARE IS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT
NY Daily News ^ | February 18, 2008 | Michael McAuliff

Hillary Clinton just raised her campaign pledge for universal health care to the level of a new Constitutional right, telling a crowd in De Pere, Wis., today that the way things stand in America it’s OK to discriminate against the sick.

It’s actually an idea being floated by Wisconsin Rep. Steve Kagen, a doctor who introduced Clinton here at St. Norbert’s College. (She gave him credit.)

But Hillary embraced it wholly, and made it her own.

“Under our Constitution, no one is supposed to be discriminated against. That’s part of our values, that’s our law in America. Except sick people can be discriminated against,” she said, recouting Kagen’s argument, which he plans to try and turn into legislation.

“When you’re sick you can lose your insurance; when you’re sick, you can be charged so much more that you can’t pay for it,” before segueing into her own familiar litany of people’s health care tragedies, and apparently embracing Kagen’s concept.

“We have to start asking ourselves, ‘Do we want to enshrine discrimination in our health care system, the one area where of our lives where we’re most vulnerable?’” Clinton told the crowd.

“The Constitution says you can’t discriminate against somebody because of what color they are or what religion they are,” she went on. “Why is it OK to discriminate against somebody who is born with a heart defect, or who is diagnosed with prostate cancer?

“I think it’s time we say, ‘We’re not going to let the health insurance industry say who lives and who dies.and who gets health care in this country,” she concluded to applause that drowned out her final words.

Rep. Kagen, it seems, is onto something in his district around Green Bay.depereA021808.jpg For her part, Clinton has talked about health care being a moral right, but we can’t recall her ever elevating it to the Constitutional level before. We’re betting we hear more of this from her.

Amazes me how they can find rights that do not exist yet fail to understand something so explicit as the 2nd amendment. Well, whatever suits their purposes I guess.

I once attended a “listening tour” stop for Russ Feingold, I asked him which article of the Constitution did he feel allowed federal expenditures on education. He said “I’m sorry, I don’t have a copy of the Constitution on me”. I walked up to the podium and handed him a copy...he lamely shuffled through it, hemming, hawing...very embarrassing...his aides tried to kill me with their stares, felt good but accomplished nothing.

If any normal person were told something that they weren’t to sure about you would research it and question it. Remember I made the first mistake I said NORMAL! American’s are LAZY. This will bite them in the end, unfortunately they will drag all of us with them.

So health care is a constitutional right. Where does it appear in the Constitution? No where. All Billary & B. Hessein Obama are proposing is an erosion of individual rights. They are carrying the banner of the far left who hope to create a socialist utopia in the USA.

Good one. The shame of it is that clowns like Feingold know they are lying.

BTW what ever happened to Russ' resolution to censure W?

Just wait until she comes for your guns. Our last defense will be with the SCOTUS.

I disagree...our last defense will be to LOCK and LOAD!

Which Article is that right found under, or is it in the Bill of Rights?

I think it’s somewhere near the right to an abortion.

Couldn't tell you...if consistancy has any footing in reality, it failed miserably.

Wow, good hit. May not have accomplished anything, but few of us get to so publicly drive home a point.

Kit Kat bars, lottery tickets, and Colt 45 Malt Liquor. I have a Constitutional right to Kit Kat bars, lottery tickets, and Colt 45 Malt Liquor!

Hillary says so!

The Constitution is not a full ennumeration of our rights therefore you will not find all of our rights in there. The Constitution is a limit on govt. Some rights are listed in the Bill of Rights but not all. Read the 9th amendment. This is not to say I agree with Hillary, not at all.

My question is: What does make something a “right”?

In the debate she mentioned how “Can you imagine what would happen if Social Security and Medicare were optional?” (Well, yes I can).

McCain needs to hammer on this - the two largest blood and soul sucking things from the Federal Gov’t and she wants to make Universal Health Care the same!!???

Food and shelter are even more fundamental than healthcare.

But does that mean that we all get the same menu or same accomodations regardless of ability to pay?

Just so you know, "publicly" was a room of 30 people in Lodi, Wisconsin with the press taking no notice whatsoever.

The first 10 amendments - that’s why they are called the Bill of Rights is an obvious answer.

"HILLARY: HEALTH CARE IS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT"

Actually, on this issue she is absolutely right!

For all that doubt it, All I ask is that you return to this forum in a year or so and I will be able to prove it!

Once the liberals place the appropriate lifetime appointees to the SC they will absolutely find it mentioned clearly, as plain as day, in the constitution. Once you control the courts of the land, you will be able to find whatever you want to in the constitution.
