He’s another boring guy, get real.
I really, seriously, like Haley Barbour and would not want him on any ticket with the likes of John McCain. Sorry.
McCain - Coburn
Two old white guys is not my idea of what the best Presidential ticket should truly be for the GOP in ‘08! A majority of voters truly need to get as excited as possible about voting for the GOP Presidential ticket and all “truly conservative” candidates running for a variety of political offices at every level on November 4, if such a thing can truly and successfully be made possible. McCain truly needs somebody who is either: younger than McCain; a truly conservative individual; and/or who is a minority. Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, Mike Pence, J.C. Watts, Mark Sanford, or Janice Rogers Brown would definitely be on my short list of serious V.P. choices for McCain, if I was doing the choosing. McCain could truly hurt his chances for victory in the general election if he seriously chooses another RINO to be his final V.P. choice, but it also wouldn’t surprise me at all if McCain does end up choosing another RINO to be his running mate-upsetting a majority of conservatives even further.
DRAFT BEER! NOT BARBOUR. (at leaat four years worth)
He would be my 2nd to last choice for VEEP. (My last choice would be the little pansy, Lindsey Graham.)
First of all, Haley Barbour’s nasal, twangy Southern accent even turns off Southerners; Northerners hate it.
Secondly, we need a Conservative from a Red State that we stand a chance of losing or from a Blue State we have a chance of carrying. We will get Mississippi’s few Electoral Votes anyhow.
It’s no secret that FR’s resident Magnolia Mafia comprised of loud and opinionated Mississippians both current residents and expats alike love the old bulldogged faced Haley but outsiders will eschew him for making a living lobbying once.
He is very very popular in the State even amongst those who did not support him..
He did well with Katrina and has damaged the tort law oligarchs down there bigtime too.
He is a true social conservative.
Who McCain chooses as VP is as paramount as could be given his age and his lack of popularity with his base.
He will need someone to help sweep the South or he loses. We all know that and the Dems do too.
Haley would be a good choice but he may not want it.
I saw this on channel 3 news tonight.
Here we have the name of the absolute best man in the whole of politics mentioned as a possible VP for John McCain and yet, a couple of people here spew forth with anti-Southern bigotry and other nasty crap that’s both ignorant and shameful.
Haley Barbour would be a great asset to the ticket. He’d not only help carry the South and the religious right, he is not offensive to moderates in both parties or to Independents. He could step right into the role of POTUS and CIC which is the whole point of McCain’s VP, given MaC’s age.
I don’t care if Barbour is God’s gift to Conservatism, he ain’t gonna turn this ticket into a silk purse.
No chance McCain puts a former lobbyist on the ticket now.
