It has been nearly three days since the blizzard of purely political threads; has anybody missed them?

Great. One of the bunch of yahoos who got us into this mess.
Include me out.

No matter how seductive the number two spot is, I still couldn’t support the number one spot. (assuming McCain, of course)

The posting of this does not mean I am in favor of it just putting it out there. Good, because he's not what we need to win the White House in 2008. Republicans have no problem winning votes in the south, and if they did it would probably be because they're getting creamed everywhere else.

I don’t remember Haley being all that conservative.

I like Haley, but I think we should accept the lesson we learned about talking reluctant people into running for office.

Not no, but HELL NO!
He’s our governor and he needs stay right where he is. We need him too badly.

Nope. A good southern conservative governor doesn’t need to be reduced to being an errand boy for a RINO.
Barbour actually has a future, so he should refuse.
To: WKB
I would not be surprised if McCain actually goes Left(er) of himself for a VP.

this is a great idea...a good ol’ boy, who is extremely competent could help him win the South
To: WKB
Barbour was absolutely one of the finest RNC chairs. Alas, after his duty as RNC Chair, he moved heavily into lobbying. Could be made an issue.

McCain/Barbour--Great. That way, in addition to a clothes pin, we'd need to take No-Doz before voting.
It's hard to think of a more uninspiring combo, except for maybe McCain/Lott, or McCain/Chafee, McCain Hagel...Just send us spinning into a maelstrom of despair and disgust. If anyone other than a real conservative is on that ticket, I predict massive Republican voter turn-off on election day.

Yes, lets get Haley Barbour into the Presidential race and leave the Governor’s chair of Mississippi to Jim Hood, Steve Holland, Billy McCoy, and the Black Legislative Caucus.

This would help an otherwise lame McCain carry the South. Barbour is the only person who could really help McCain and convince me to vote for the ticket.
