MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ―
A woman who authorities say is in the country illegally and using an alias was charged Friday with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two lesser charges in a school bus crash that killed four children, CBS station WCCO-TV reported.
A woman who identified herself as Alianiss Nunez Morales, 23, of Minneota, was driving a van that failed to stop at a stop sign Tuesday before hitting a bus carrying 28 students from Lakeview School, Lyon County Attorney Richard Maes said. The accident happened near the small town of Cottonwood, in southwestern Minnesota.
Morales was also charged with a stop sign violation and for driving without a valid license, Maes said.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are trying to figure out the woman's true identity. Claude Arnold, ICE special agent in charge of investigations, said his agency believes Morales is an illegal immigrant. ICE has filed paperwork to detain her for deportation proceedings after the criminal case is resolved.
"The only name we have for her is the name she gave us when she was booked," Arnold said, adding that the woman told authorities she was from Mexico.
Arnold said ICE would continue to investigate her identity.
"We're going to do everything in our power and authority to ensure justice is served in this case," he said.
Morales does not have a Minnesota driver's license, and "she doesn't have a (driver's license) anywhere that we're aware of," said Lt. Mark Peterson of the Minnesota State Patrol.
The criminal vehicular homicide charges are felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. The other charges are misdemeanors.
Morales was expected to make her first appearance in court Friday.
Two brothers, the daughter of a teacher at Lakeview school and the son of a former Lakeview teacher were killed in the crash.
Six people, five of them students, remain hospitalized at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. One student was due to go home later Friday, spokesman Kenyon Gleason said. Two other students were in fair condition and two were serious; the adult at the hospital was in fair condition.
Another student remains hospitalized at Mayo Clinic in fair condition.
School will be canceled Monday as funeral services for Hunter Javens, 9, and Jesse Javens, 13, are held there. Visitation for the brothers will take place at the school Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the funeral service following.
Visitation for Emilee Olson, 9, was set for Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. A funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Arrangements for Reed Stevens, 12, of Marshall, were pending with Rehkamp and Horvath Funeral Directors.
"Do you live alone?"
"I lived with my boyfriend, but not anymore." "Do you have family in the Lyon County area?" "Yes, an aunt and cousins."
Morales is being represented by St. Paul lawyer Manuel Guerrero, who was retained by Morales' sister Thursday night.
So I guess ICE is out at these people house rounding them up this evening for deportation.
Next question who was the owner of the Van and have they been arrested.
SOMEONE is going to have to defend this country when the government will not.
According to this, between September 11th 2001 and now, illegals were directly responsible for the deaths of approximately 30,000 Americans (24,000 up to 2006) - an order of magnitude greater than the number of innocent Americans slaughtered in the 9/11 attacks.
In 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in all U.S. jails and prisons. Any guesses on the current number? How about those still at large?
In April 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a report on a study of 55,322 of these illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:
* The 55,322 illegal aliens studied represented a total of 459,614 arrests - some eight arrests per illegal alien;
* Their arrests represented a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses - some 13 offenses per illegal alien;
* 36 percent had been arrested at least five times before.
The WOT pales in comparison to the magnitude of importance of the illegal problem (even ignoring the obvious connection between a wide-open border and demented jihadis desperate to find any way into America to kill more innocents).
How many more tens of thousands of needless deaths at the hands of illegals will occur in the next few years because of weak leadership? To pretend to be strong on American security while placing yourself firmly on the WRONG side of this issue is abominable. Shame on anyone who gives their implicit support to the pushers of shamnesty (and especially their architects) and those guilty of similar treasonous conduct.
This is a perfect example why we need to not only fence our borders, but get tough with employers hiring illegals and cut off Federal funding to any local units of government who fail to report illegals stopped for other offenses.
‘We’re going to do everything in our power and authority to ensure justice is served in this case,” he said.
Since he represents ICE about all his power extends to is making sure she is deported at the end of her incarceration.
The criminal vehicular homicide charges are felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. The other charges are misdemeanors.’
Everything in the “criminal justice system’s” power is 40 years and an $80000.00 fine on the 4 felonies alone.
Wanna bet either of them will do ‘everything in our power’?
Why is she not criminally charged with injuring the others?
The state issued two identification cards under the name of Alianiss Nunez Morales. Both cards have the same name and birthdate.
In 2005, an Alianiss Nunez Morales was issued a state ID. She was five-feet four-inches and 140 pounds.
In 2006, another state ID was issued to Alianiss Nunez Morales. She was listed as five-feet one-inch tall and only 115 pounds.
With such different physical descriptions, these cards probably werent issued to the same woman.
The little fat one is a puertican rican and FBI have interviewed here there. I'm sure there is some underground system where these id's are sold I doubt if the little fat one has ever been out of Puerto Rico.
Interesting article they don’t know who she is but says she has an aunt and cousins in the area then her sister retains an attorney for her...has their immigration status been checked?
Employers who knowingly hire illegals who subsequently kill American citizens should be charged with felony murder.

Generally, I don’t like this shifting of the blame to employers. It is far too difficult, given the PC atmospherics, for employers to ascertain the status of applicants these days—they can be sued for even asking in some cases.
Anything that shifts the blame away from a government that has been negligent simply aids the cause of illegals in the end. Plus, blaming “employers” has been a nice smoke-screen defense for the Left—a place they can wriggle to and change the subject. Employers have no authority over the border or lax visa systems, weak enforcement, catch-and-release, etc. Conversely, they don’t write the EEOC rules and all the other regs they have to comply with.
Blaming employers, in a sense, is like blaming the murder victim for not having a gun to shoot back with. In the end, you find out that it was the government who took the gun away from the victim.
I think there should be a system to guarantee that drivers in the so called sanctuary cities actually are capable of driving a vehicle, especially in the winter cities.
How many more children are going to be killed by illegals that have invaded our country and scuttle around like cockroaches, I am willing to speculate she could not drive this vehicle in icy conditions, could not read English signs, knew possibly nothing about highway laws and was probably drunk my guess, its a national pride thing to see how drunk you can get and still drive for Mexicans, and when they cross our border they think they can bring their “tradition” with them.
My thoughts exactly.

If government were doing its job, employers wouldn’t have to be unpaid police!
My VISA card company will call me within 5 minutes of even one unusual purchase, therefore the technology exists to determine who is a citizen and who isn’t.
At traffic stops, a policeman should be able to determine within minutes the true status of a license and and social security. If found false, these people should be deported within the week.
Ditto for ALL social welfare programs.
Ditto for schools! If a child is not a **legal** resident, then he is **not** a resident! He is an illegal squatter!
Ditto for all hospitals accepting government welfare. The patient needs to be stabilized and deported within the week!
And,,,When an employer finds a false social security number, the police should pick these people within minutes! Deportation should follow within the week. What steams me, is when employers DO find illegal the government does NOTHING about it!!! These illegals go from employer to employer hoping to snooker some poor employer into hiring him!
The funny thing is that there’s a few radical “free traders” here who support amnesty for just that reason.
I won’t mention names, but we know who the usual suspects are and they’d sell their grandmothers for a nickel.
