Obama's sovereignty giveaway plan

Why are Republicans in Congress trying to help Barack Obama?

Republicans allowed a bill that carries his name, among nine others, to pass the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote last week – without any hearings. That means there was no roll-call vote so no member can be held accountable. The same bill passed the House by voice vote last year.

The Obama bill passed out of committee with the cooperation of the co-sponsor, Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind. A Rhodes scholar like former President Bill Clinton, Lugar has never seen a United Nations enhancement he didn't like.

Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts, which is at least $30 billion over and above the exorbitant and wasted sums we already give away overseas.

The bipartisan bill would require the president "to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day."

The bill's other co-sponsors include Sens. Joseph Biden, D-Del., Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., Chris Dodd, D-Conn., Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Russ Feingold, D-Wis., Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., Charles Hagel, R-Neb., and Robert Mendez, D-N.J.

We should be on guard any time politicians use the word "comprehensive," an umbrella word that always shades a lot of mischief. The notion that U.S. taxpayers should or could cut in half the number of people worldwide who live in poverty by 2015 is ridiculous.

Load it with piano wire and it wouldn’t be too bad a close quarters weapon. Better than nothing. :)

What difference does a voice vote vs recorded vote make when the outcome is certain?

There won’t be a voice vote on the Senate floor. It might well be filibustered by the EEEEEEVIL Republicans we all obviously hate at this site.

Maybe it should pass unanimously so that we can prove to ourselves that we should vote for.........

nobody.

That will send the right people to Washington. Hot Damn!

I’m no fan of Schlafly. Sometimes she’s right, but usually she doesn’t express it in a way that is helpful. She’s a bomb-thrower.

You threw a bomb on her side with your first comment on this thread.

It wasn’t helpful. It doesn’t help conservatives to play the theme that Republicans are the enemy.

I will never argue that Republicans are perfect because they never will be, and each particular politician has to be judged on his or her own positions and not the party label.

But scathing attacks on all politicians within a particular party is mindless. It ignores the reality of the individual and is meant only to disparage everyone. Schlafly is famous for this.

You agree with attacking Republicans. You just said so.

A more intelligent approach would be to attack specific Republicans that you disagree with and then help to replace them.

Can you do that? Phyllis can’t.

Good.

I know what you've posted and you know what I've posted. Since you don't even know how to spell, I'll live with that damning indictment.

“You’re all over the place here.”

No I am not. I am attacking the republican party. Gosh I dont think my attacking the democratic party will make it more conservative. Its been my experience anyway.

“You claim that you want to retake the Republican party. Okay, fine. I think you’re a nut, but taking back the party from losers like Chuck Hagel is probably something we could agree upon.”

I want conservatives to retake the republican party in the fusionist image that Reagan cultivated. Call me a nut if you will but conservatives wont have a voice until they unify and force the republican party to adhere to their principles. The repubican party wont listen to conservatives until we once again unify. Yeah we can agree that Hagel is bad but there is a whole lot of Hagel going on within the republican party. McCain is our nominee because of the Hagels.

“I never responded to the merits of this bill because the main thing I noticed was your reply #1 which wrongfully and shamefully put the blame on Republicans. You can’t defend that either factually or logically. And you sure can’t reconcile it with your tepid defense of the Republican Party you have spent this entire thread tearing apart.”

I am hearing the beep beep sound. The article is an attack on republicans. Its why I posted it. You like republicans right now. Maybe you tie yourself to being a republican. I don’t. I am a con. Factually and logically this bill is going to hit the senate floor because republicans didn’t do anything to stop it. Shame on them.

“Why did you post this thread if your comment was to blame Republicans? One FRICKIN’ Republican who is a known RINO signed onto this bill. ONE.”

You judge the members of congress on which R’s have their name on it? Thank god you didnt have a say on the immigration amnesty bill.

“You deliberately ignored all the Democrats who sponsored it. You deliberately ignored the realities of the situation as to whether this could pass their committee.”

LOL. Screw the democrats. I can’t change them. I can only attempt to convince conservative to change our party. I am certainly not inclined to defend the republican party as you are.

“Why did you do that?”

Answered you retard.

“Who exactly is your enemy here?”

Those that think the republican party is a.o.k.

“I am a conservative. You are a troll. Up yours.”

You may be conservative but you havent done anything to show it in defense of republicans. You arent a troll, you are just a weak assed stupid republican.

Dude you just dont get it. Liberals will be liberals. Democrats will be democrats. I cant change that. When I post a Schafly article though, cons listen. The problem isnt that democrats have a better idea, a better way. LOOK AT THEM! The reason republicans are on the ropes is because they have abandoned conservative ideas. One of which is that you cant heal the world. You dont give up your soveignty trying to. Republicans have forgotten that.

What's the difference? ACCOUNTABILITY. Dems would love to get everything through on a voice vote and have no record of who voted what. And I'd like to know which RINOs just went along to avoid causing waves.

I am fighting a headache from hell. Aspirins aren't helping much. I'll see you around FR tomorrow. I'm supposed to get satellite internet sometime tomorrow. I can't wait. I've always had dial-up.

Have a good night, nic. Careful of the weed whacker, unless it's in self defense. :)

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bitch about the Gerald Ford we are stuck with.
