For the second time in two years, an Argentine teenager has given birth to female triplets, BBC News reports.

The 16-year-old, who goes only by the name of Pamela, first gave birth to triplets at the age of 15.

This was rape by definition: the female is a minor child, and there doesn’t seem to be a responsible male to be seen for miles around.

In an Islamic society, I suppose she’d be battered bloody dead.

Those 7 little ones under the age of 3 are at desperate risk of abuse and/or early death. At least half of them should be placed for adoption in intact, conscientious mama-papa families.

For females, the physiologically ideal time to begin childbearing is the mid-teens: you're past the childhood diseases; you've completed your growth; your kidneys, heart, joints, blood sugar, and immune system are in better shape then they'll ever be in your lifetime; and you're not yet old enough for the onset of the chronic degenerative diseases. Plus you've got the energy to chase the kidlets around the house.

What you don't have (usually) is fully mature judgment and an adequate, secure income. Both of which have historically been supplied in a satisfactory way by marrying an older husband who is sensible, responsible, and a stable wage-earner.

Nore does this imply a waste of the young woman's other intellectual and social qualities, other than the maternal. She can still sequence her life stages so she does the mothering thing young, and then in her 30's and 40's goes for more education and other interests and vocational choices.

You can have it all, but you can't have it all at once.

For many, it's really the way to go.

No 16-year-old with 7 babies under the age of 3 “has it made.” She really needs to arrange for adoptive placement for at least half of those kids: they need a lot more — a ~lot~ more —— mama-and-papa parenting than one desperate girl and her woefully lacking mother can provide.

Or by having a family in which both parents are young, but they are part of an extended-family economy with older people, who help them to develop wage-earning and parenting skills, rather than turning them loose on their own.

If it were my daughter I would very concerned. I think somebody needs to teach the mother of the child mother & the child mother parenting classes & birth control. It is just so hard for me to think of such a young girl with 7 children.

Our newspaper, The Seattle Times, also ran an article about Argentina on a different subject. The subject in the ST was about a new form of crack cocaine which is becoming an epidemic among the youth in both Argentina and Brazil. They the reason is POROUS BORDERS.
