WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A federal grand jury has indicted Republican U.S. Rep. Richard Renzi of Arizona on 35 criminal counts including conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and official extortion, according to court papers unsealed on Friday.

The indictment stems from plan by Renzi and an associate to benefit from a land-exchange plan in order to receive Renzi's support for necessary federal legislation, court documents said.

"It was an object of the conspiracy for Renzi to enrich (his associate) and personally benefit himself," the indictment said.

It also accuses Renzi of embezzling premiums from clients of an insurance business to fund his congressional campaign.

Renzi was first elected in 2002.

U.S. Attorney Diane Humetewa in Phoenix, where the indictment was handed down, has scheduled a news conference to details the charges.

I think that the only difference between McCain and Renze is that McCain was much more experienced in working the system, especially after being caught with Keating and Lindner.

How long do you think that it will be before the MSM start picking up some of McCain’s land deals?

Fraud, in general, has become much more sophisticated.

How long do you think that it will be before the MSM start picking up some of McCain’s land deals?

Who knows? Maybe when the DNC starts publishing whatever they've collected over the years? The MSM did start seeing the model in some of those articles about Harry Reid's associates--hopefully they will dust off more of them.

What a jerk. When do we send the message that we don’t want the crooks and perverts in the GOP?

The ruling class never spend much time going after each other. Look at what Bush has allowed the Dems to get away with. It’s a game for them. If one of theirs get into trouble they just pardon each other and move on down the road until the next time.

The choices appear to be: 1) really really evil; 2) really evil; and 3) evil.

So, because he's an (R), and got caught doing a little bit of what DEMOCRAT HARRY REID has been doing for 30 years, it's newsworthy, right?

"This campaign season is going to be one for the ages."You got that right. McCain who is an aged, anachronistic Washington Insider whose base is, at best, conflicted about him against Obama, an articulate, young candidate with a very motivated base behind him and the results are to me a foregone conclusion.

Let's not forget the MSM who will take everything the McCain the Washington Insider has done during his long tenure, twist it around and make him into a hypocrite or worse.

Cthulhu is a mythical giant being, one of the Great Old Ones in H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.[1] It is often cited for the extreme descriptions given of its appearance, size, and the abject terror that it invokes. Because of this reputation, Cthulhu is often referred to in science fiction and fantasy circles as a tongue-in-cheek shorthand for extreme horror or evil.

Reid can make any land deal or any other deal he wishes, as he is protected by the American people who know he is there to “hep them”.

I searched your posting history for 5-10 minutes and must have missed the link about Scottsdale & Carefree.

I just moved from more or less that neck of the woods up to Minneapolis last summer.

Could you please re-send me a copy of the link?

Cheers!

That license plate is just not right.

Coyote, you might want to talk to your friends on TOS; some of them might get a chuckle if they enjoy Lovecraft.

Cheers!

The article was called Saving Private interests.

Page 4 deals with the McCain connection to Carl Lindner (member of the Keaing 5, the man who financed the PAC that most people associated with Huckabee (and it’s no wonder since they even changed their name to, Trust Huckabee).
