OBAMA: And as a consequence, they didn’t have enough ammunition, they didn’t have enough humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief.
OBAMA: Now, that’s a consequence of bad judgment. And you know, the question is, on the critical issues that we face right now, who’s going to show the judgment to lead? And I think that on every critical issue that we’ve seen in foreign policy over the last several years — going into Iraq originally, I didn’t just oppose it for the sake of opposing it. I said this is going to distract us from Afghanistan; this is going to fan the flames of anti-American sentiment; it’s going to cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives and overstretch our military. I did 2 tours in A-Stan and in most circumstances when we rolled up caches or captured weapons after a firefight, we gave the weapons to the ANA (Afghan Army) for their use. We
rarely used their weapons for our own use, most of their Ak-47
were shitty condition or were pimped out with decorations etc. We prefered the accuracy and optics that we had with the M-4 system. So this assclown Obama is wrong, huh imagine that.

Never heard of AF pilot that was a Sgt. Never heard of a pilot in the AF being allowed to work on his assigned aircraft let alone welding on it. Never heard of an FB-1170 either.
I don’t either. My point was that his tall tale clearly defies logic on all levels, even if you assume the military would do something like this. But his followers motto is, “why let logic get in the way of an opportunity to be outraged?” so they won’t work it out, they’ll just drink the kool-aid and rail against the President. And the media will dutifully report both the tale and the outrage.
Yep, you’re right, M-16, M-4 is 5.56 (.223). I call BS on this whole story. When Obama falls he is going to fall hard as he says some of the most ignorant things you are likely to hear. The problem is, that right now, those listening and then believing what they hear are equally or even more ignorant. :)
The Ammo is not interchangable, although, I believe you can use a single AK round, you just have to manually pull out the case, manually insert another, charge the weapon and pull the trigger. Not too efficient. The AK is more jam resistant, but the M-16 is a much better weapon at long range, which is where you want to be.
Bottom line is that there is absolutely no shortage of weapons or ammunition in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, the ignorant are the majority now. Not a sunny picture. They only know one thing, they can vote themselves a raise at every election.
Not only that. They denied the request for armor support simply because they feared how it would be played in the US News media. So 19 good guys died because Clinton was worried about his approval ratings. The more I think about the 1990s, the more I remember why his wife must be not just beaten, she must be totally crushed so the Clintons can never be a force in national politics again.
Which would make it possible that they guy Obama refers to was promoted, especially since he says that the guy "WAS" a platoon leader.
