Where did I ever say I was against home-schooling. In fact, I said I am FOR it. I don't agree that home-schooling will keep your children safe from all harm, though.

Four children are dead at the hands of an illegal criminal.

Do you hide in your homes and never drive to work, the store, the library, anywhere?

Sorry, but I’m fairly local to this story and we’re grieving here and hopping mad. One’s choice of schooling has nothing to do with this situation.

I don’t put my kids under that care or authority of anyone I don’t know...not an instructor or a driver. Obviously the parents of all the kids on that bus put their kids under the care of someone they really didn’t know.

My kids ride the church bus. I know the man who drives it well. He’s a deacon in the church. Granted, you never know everything about everyone, but I see this man at least a couple of times a week in different aspects of service through our church. I know his family.

I saw an elderly man driving a school bus just yesterday and he looked like he could barely see out of the window...and I thought “How can parents put their kids on that bus with a easy mind?”

Yep, and thanks Ronald Reagan. Because of his amnesty program, a flood of illegals came across the border. Yes, George should do something about it NOW, but we have to acknowledge that the problem was greatly aggravated under a President that is almost deified by some.

I guess if some prefer to use the name "Jorge Bush", they should also be saying "Reynaldo Reagan".

I was not on that original thread, nor am I interested in getting into a homeschooling debate.

I am simply stating that these four children are dead because of an illegal criminal and I am offended homeschooling is being brought into it.

I am not on anyone’s back, so thanks for your kind reply. I’ll go back to e-mailing my state legislators regarding illegal immigration rather than spend time on this thread.

As I said, this situation is fairly local and personal to me. I’m in no mood for anyone else’s individual agenda. Good day.

I personally know my son’s school bus driver as well. We live in a small town where everyone generally knows everyone else.

The bus driver has nothing to do with this situation. An illegal criminal who shouldn’t have been here crashed into another vehicle, which just so happened to be a school bus. It could’ve been you or me with our children in our own private vehicle. It happens all over this country everyday.

My anger is towards the illegal problem. I do not wish to debate homeschooling. I have neither the want or the energy.

Ray Tranchant’s daughter was killed by an illegal in Virginia Beach and he is going to sue many. I don’t know the status of his lawsuit. I just googled now and found this site.

I live in Iowa and have a lot of friends in Minnesota. None that were affected directly by this tragedy but believe me, I get it. I’ve prayed for the families and the hurt ones. That’s why MetMom pinged her list. Also - and this is just a theory - because of a particular poster who does try to promote homeschooling because of this sort of incident - which I would not do. I believe MM wanted to let the nice normal homeschoolers on her list see these threads so that if someone did come and try to exploit them we’d be able to counter that.

This has nothing to do with where children are educated.

They were on a school bus. Not sticking kids on a school bus twice a day is a reason to homeschool (small one but a real one). In a minivan at least they would be buckled in. It is a pretty darn low probability that an illegal is going to crash into my house. Much lower than that of a given child being on a school bus that gets in an accident.

Thanks for the explanation. I have no bone to pick with homeschoolers. I just don’t want the focus to get shifted away from the important topic here - illegals and the damage they are doing to our great country.

I encourage everyone to contact their state legislators today and hammer the point home. McCain needs to contacted on this subject too. (I know, I know, probably a futile exercise.) :(

My neighbors three doors down, at my last house, had an illegal crash into the foundation of their home. They caused $30,000 in damage to the house.

The point is, no one is safe anywhere as long as illegal criminals are given free reign in this country.

Let’s keep on topic here. There are grieving families here and I find it distasteful to suggest they are somehow at fault for putting their children on a school bus.
