Appearing on Thursday's 1pm hour of MSNBC News Live, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews couldn't resist taking a few swipes at Rush Limbaugh. After anchor Peter Alexander played a clip of the conservative talk show host discussing the New York Times story on John McCain, Matthews irritably claimed, "Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant here. Irrelevant. He doesn't know anything more than what he read in the New York Times."
The radio clip, from todays edition of Limbaugh's program, featured the host urging the presidential candidate to learn a lesson from the front-page New York Times story speculating about a improper relationship with a D.C. lobbyist. In the clip, Limbaugh argued that Republicans should learn never to trust the liberal-leaning news media as they will always turn to help Democrats.
Matthews's apparent annoyance at Limbaugh might have something to do with being mentioned in the clip. At one point during the monologue, Limbaugh asserted, "[McCain] has thought Chris Matthews and these other people in the drive-by media, are his friends. They aren't."

I think I can here Rush laughing all the way from Midtown.
The old school democrats were a far sight better than the recent crop.
Liberal talking heads despise Rush because he’s financially successful at a “conservative” version of what they do...namely, “bump their gums” to millions on the radio every day.
Hell hath no fury like a liberal scorned.
Lol, been some time since I saw those! Good post.
I need to do a good one of Michelle Malkin, she’s always on spot!
The guy from the smallest audience on TV puts down the biggest audience radio king in the nation. LOL
Right. And he wasn't trying influence anybody by saying McCain would "destroy the Republican party" if nominated.
Are you trying to make me laugh on purpose or what?
LOL. Chrissy Matthews will spend the rest of his life fantasizing about ever getting just 1/10 of the audience that Rush Limbaugh enjoys, but Chrissy will never break 500K whereas Rush enjoys an audience of around 20 million per day. Yeah, Chrissy baby, tell us who’s ‘irrelevant’ you useless POS.
He said that a McCain nomination would destroy the Republican Party as we know it BECAUSE McCain isn’t interested in really pursuing the conservative base, he’s all about bringing in moderates and liberals into the “big tent” of the republican party. Rush doesn’t disagree that we need to bring moderates and liberals into the GOP. His dispute with the party has to to totally with the how it is being done. McCain is doing so through accomodation and “pragmatism”. Rush wants to accomplish the migration through defeating liberalism in all it’s forms and converting liberals and moderates to a conservative way of thinking. One approack WILL destroy the party and make it a Democrat Party Lite, the other will strengthen the Party for decades to some with legions of conservative-minded members from which strong consrvative leaders wil grow and flourish. Which vision do you prefer?
Now perhaps Rush has the intent in mind that you suggest, but his comments were also aimed squarely at The Huckster as well...perhaps Rush was, in fact, warning the Republican about the dangers and pitfalls of allowing the moderates to dominate party platforms and elections? Perhaps Rush wasn’t saying anything personal against McCain at all, rather he was doing what he has always done - compared and contrasted conservatism against moderates/liberalism.
.
Golden Goodies!
Goldie Oldies, but always in style when needed, lol
Gotta go cook quickly before the debate, be back!
Chrissy-fit’s a trip.
He had at least two guests on saying the NYT is the best paper in the country.
Then perhaps you have a point.
And perhaps I was reading too many pro-Huckabee posts by Freepers who were reading too much into Rush's anti-McCain dialogs.
Chrissy sits to pee
Pass it on
As far as I know, he filled in for el rushbo at least one back in the 1990s. I remember listening to him and wondering what the hell that sissy was doing there.
I prefer to think that he is a brief brown splash in the toilet.
Who is Chris Matthews?
Maybe I can talk to Chris again.
Not sure but a lot of bats hitting guests .....
