There’s a difference between routine on a personal time scale and routine geologically.
Nevada overall has had quite a few 6+ quakes in the last 100 years. It’s the third most seismic state after Alaska and California.
Morning:’)
I understand the seismic history and geology of Nevada and the west, however, I was referring to recent history. As I said, I just don't recall hearing about 6 or above quake in that region, (NE NV). No doubt it has occurred in the distant past.
Sssh! Don't tell my wife! I'm trying to get her to agree to our retiring in Nevada!
Looks like on this map . . .
And another 'route' from Oakland CA through this quake's location.
I realize you are quite disinclined to construe things this way . . . however . . .
IF
overall global quake phenomena DID increase 20-30% in intensity, frequency and raw numbers of quakes . . . THEN what potential would you see for dramatic action along one or both of those routes?
Most of Nevada’s seismicity is around the Sierra Nevada. That region gets several 4.0 or less earthquakes a year. The northeast part of the state rarely sees a quake. A 6.0 in the northeast is a rare event.
