;-)
It’s not a patchup, it shows on multiple passes using different sources. Mining, or exploratory shafts, or something maybe.
What’s OHV?
Did you look at the terraserver link I put up?
The margin of error in the epicenter location is 2 miles, so it’s doubtful the grid of disturbed earth has anything to do with the quake. I’m just curious as to what’s there.
Yep. One looks like someone’s house chimney, but the rest are storefront looking places. I haven’t been to Wells but those buildings remind me of old town Prescott, AZ. Or Rapid City, SD.
Oh, he was a riot. I remember during the war whenever the news would say "The Iraqi Information Minister will be giving an address shortly," I would stay glued to the TV and then howl with laughter at his words (sometimes hilariously coupled with an opposite reaction going on in the background.)
He turned himself in to US forces after the fall of Baghdad and was told that he was free to go...he was not on the wanted list. LOL
OHV is something you see a lot out here in the deserts. Off-highway vehicle trails and whatnot. They set aside places for people to take ATVs and 4wd vehicles to play in the sand without marring the landscape completely.
Did the radio play "Shakin' All Over" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On," afterwards like KMET used to do after earthquakes when I lived in L.A.? ;-)
I see your naysaying perspective and convictions are still in splendid shape.
I hope someone around you has a good camera when the 180 degree alteration in such occurs. I hope you won’t need ‘jaw restoration’ surgery.
It’s interesting how so many feel such things getting closer and closer and closer with greater and greater intensity. And others feel nothing. Fascinating.
OK, I’ve seen that. This is a square pattern of dug-up dirt with very faint trails between them, much fainter than the nearby Jeep trails.
Probably survey test borings for a mine, and the way things are preserved in that terrain, it could be from 50 years ago.
It looked at first like the field of craters in the National Test Area (area 82 iirc?), but those craters are big, these are small by comparison.
Goodness!
Here we are agreeing on a post! LOL.
Elko County Undersheriff Rocky Gonzalez said damage was widespread, with people reporting cracked walls and foundations. At least one building collapsed, he said. There were no immediate reports of injuries, he said. The Flying J Truck Stop was evacuated because of a propane leak, Gonzalez said. A person who answered the phone at Wells Elementary School said there were cracks in walls and items were displaced. "It was pretty bad," said Jane Kelso, who answered the phone at the Motel 6. "Everything in our whole building shook. We have cracks in our walls."
Great pics. Thanks!
Isn’t there a prison out in that area? I wonder how the prisoners are faring.
Don't we usually? ;o)
Thanks.
Here’s a link . . .

That sort of . . . indicates a couple of . . . ‘paths’ . . .
of quake potential and/or ?volcanic? potential from the CA coast up to . . . . ta da
YELLOWSTONE! Wheeeee
One such path could go through this quake location. The other one from further south in CA up through Utah more.
When I was asked to come over here, they didn’t really ask if I would rather be in an earthquake. ;-)
= = =
The gubmint’s like that. Maybe you’ve noticed. LOL.
There’s a prison south of this area in Ely, about 90 miles south on US-93, and another minimum-security one in Independence Valley, east of Wells by 30 miles or so.
....maybe the Hot Creek hot springs will fire back up.( near mammoth CA) the water has been getting pretty cool lately
