This was the plan all along. Build him up, get the nomination, then destroy him for either Obama or Hillary. They were NEVER going to support a Republican.

He could choose Thompson as his VP, resign under pressure from the "scandal" and then turn his delegates over to Thompson. Thompson could choose Rice as his VP and Thompson/Rice could then run against Obama/Edwards.

But...but...McCain’s an enlightened moderate! He’s an independent with a maverick streak!

Aides said McCain, now on the verge of securing the Republican nomination, would address the allegations at a news conference Thursday morning.

Agree, absolutely.

The NYT"S 'endorsement' of McCain was no more than a ploy; so as to give credilbility to this download and the paper that delivered it.

Well, they probably hope so. . .

Personally, don't think it will impact as hard as they are hoping. But who knows; they want him 'off message' at the very least. . .and this does change the dialog.

Did you see the vote totals this week? Obama had more votes cast for him than did ALL the Republicans..
When you add in Hilldabeast votes it was 4 to 1 over the
GOP..

With McCain we are in deep trouble..conservatives stayed home.

THIS conservative will back McCain over Obama or Clinton in a NY minute.

I agree. This country will not be able to go back from the 8 years of liberal socialist programs that Obama will get through. It won't be possible to take those benefits away from people once they're here.

Am wondering as well; if McCain now sees the 'Left' in a truer light. He was probably thinking all his 'hand-holding' with these Libs paid off after all, by NYT's endorsement.

Now he should see/understand, what is really important to the 'Marxist-Leftist.' . .

From this link....

McCain lobbyist ties ruffled aides in 1999

..."Neither Senator McCain nor the campaign will dignify false rumors and gossip by responding to them."

So they're gonna hold a presser to issue another non-denial denial?

Snort.

They can drag this out forever, and bring it up every 6 months with “new evidence”. A death of a thousand pricks. And yes, I meant the pun too!

lol and a good one!

“if McCain now sees the ‘Left’ in a truer light. “

They treated him well. He won’t see it.

this is pretty much a non issue. it wont effect his nomination and the real conservatives were not going to vote for him anyway. And some of you defending him sound just like the dems on Bill. We dont fear hillary/obama presidency....its the beginning of the real revelution. who best to had off a failing economy, high gas prices to. They will surely exasperate the problem we can blame the dems. Tighten up folks we’ll get a real conservative in ‘12

It’s not the sources that give the story legs. It’s McCain’s reaction to the story. Especialy the adultery part. The lobbying business can be finessed. The adultery can not be. Either McCain screwed around on his wife or he didn’t.

;^). . .Yes. . .or maybe we could say. . .a little rain before the storm. . .some smoke before the fire? Would prefer the truth to be closer to a 'tempest in a teapot'. . .but. . .only time will tell.

If it’s the truth, he’d better. And if no-one believes him, considering his behavior in the past, he’s got only himself to blame.

This *thing* has been in the rumor mill for some time.

I would like to personally thank the NYT for waiting until McQueeg and his *providers* have dispatched any hope of us having a Conservative candidate.

And to McQueeg’s supporters: Your first CLUE should of been when the NYT endorsed him. Thanks to you also.
