Record-setting cold weather has killed more than 8,000 cattle and 100,000 hectares of paddy rice in northern Vietnam since mid-January, officials said Tuesday. Most of the cattle have died in northern mountainous provinces, where temperatures during the month-long cold spell have sometimes dropped to below zero Celsius, a rarity in Vietnam.
"We fear that the number of cattle killed by coldness and shortage of food in northern provinces will keep rising in the coming days," ...
The cold spell, which the National Hydrometeorology Forecast Center says is the longest ever in Vietnam, has also killed up to 100,000 hectares of the winter-spring crop of paddy rice throughout the northern provinces.

Why do they never ask for comments from the Climate Nazis on stories like this? Some warm weather record happens and they are knocking each other over to get a quote in the story.

It should be abundantly clear this winter that global cooling is a greater threat to humanity than global warming. Seeds do not sprout and crops do not grow in cooler than normal temperatures. These freezing temperatures could very well lead to severe famines in Viet Nam and China this year. I haven’t heard a peep out of Fat Algore this winter. He must be hibernating until the Dem convention.

How many years of this will we have to put up with before they tell us to burn our leaves and our garbage?

0 C isn’t cold enough to harm cattle. Crop failure can result from prolonged cold, and cause starvation, but the cattle would most likely have become burgers and steaks long before that.

I was in Da Nang on a coastal plain.. Just north was the DMZ across highlands that naturally separated tne north from the south. During the winter months it got pretty chilly, especially since we didn’t have blankets and our poncho liners always seemed to ‘disappear’. On cold nights when not on a flight, we’d sleep in utilities, covered by Nomex and a mosquito net. Never saw snow, no skim ice either. Requisitioned blankets but never got one in two years.
The area in the article is farther west and north, Tai and Meo and Man country; the Montagnards. The region is wilderness.
