For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk [McCain had an affair?]
New York Times ^ | February 21, 2008 | JIM RUTENBERG, MARILYN W. THOMPSON, DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and STEPHEN LABATON

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

Lindner... the Great American. ;-)

I only got through the first page—I’ll need to read the rest later. Interesting stuff. I note that the referenced Press Releases appear not to be included on McCain’s website (although I might have missed them.)

Just read page four, that goes into the Lindner relationship to McCain politics.

Presidential candidate John McCain as John Paul Jones and Admiral David Farragut all rolled into one soundbite:

"Damn the torpedoes. Full speed, in reverse. I have not begun to fight. We call it taking a 'retrograde action.'"

Thanks! I did get through page 4. I want to do some more research later.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much time today.

I'll bet you were surprised to learn that Pulliam started the Republic and Gazette at the behest of Kemper Marley. Which, of course, he didn't and he didn't.

You are getting WAY into moonbat territory here, especially on the Arizona connections.

Hey, I didn’t post the info. Quit calling me a moonbat because I can’t stand McCain. I have a kid in the US military, and am a very nice person.

I found the persons post interesting because it is a very small world at times.

Obama was going to win in a landslide anyway. If he’s the Dem nominee. Do you think Hillary spent her entire life going after this and will lay down now for and upstart that came out of nowhere? This is her last chance. This is her only chance. She would beat McCain like a drum too FWIW.

The article is moonbattery, not you. You looked like you were buying it and I was warning you off. I think the article was written by a leftist moonbat from England who never set foot in Arizona.

Kemper Marley was a wealthy man but hardly a political powerhouse or Kingmaker. His biggest political involvement was to keep his land investments zoned Agricultural and to get a minor political appointment to the Racing Commission. He failed at both. He may or may not have said something which may or may not have led a two-bit developer to contraact to kill Don Bolles. Don Bolles' daughter used to post here and still may. I don't recall the screen name.

"One of the problems I’ve always had with McCain is that he divorced the wife who waited for him while he was a prisoner and did all she could to get him freed. Then married a woman with money. I’m still going to vote for him, though."

I'm glad you are, because I won't vote for him. What McCain did to his first wife was horrible and inexcusable--especially considering the physical condition she was in when it happened.

I find it pretty telling that McCain has spent his life betraying the very people that supported him throughout the years (e.g. his wife, his political party, etc.)

Sorry, but this is not the kind of person I want leading the country. The Republicans need to try again in 2012.

Did you ck out the St. Pete Times today? I believe there should be a thread. "BUDGET CRUNCH COULD CLOSE COURTS" (they weren't any good anyway. sleaze merchants) CLOSE 'EM and I'll watch them cry crocodile tears.

The article says they are dying. So, the judicial system will be on life support in time for Easter.

It seems FLORIDA'S JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS GUILTY OF MISMANAGEMENT.

Pinellas County or the Kingdom of Greer will be LAYING OFF 250 employees. Other counties face major layoffs too!

The entire state judicial system is over budget.

Judges will go unscathed but everyone else is subject to layoff.

We KNEW Florida's judicial system was broken and corrupt. Now there's proof positive. Even the cristi-critter is swatting at the judiciary. I guess he doesn't need them now! I JUST LUV JUST DESSERTS!

It must be God's will. (Terri haters said her murder was God's will, remember, 8mmmauser?)

With all those people getting laid off and let go, maybe what really happened to Terri is going to come out. If they're out of work, somebody's gonna want to write the next Terri book. Disgruntled employees often run to the arms of a publisher or the media to exact payback for the loss of their employment. This is a BREAK IN TERRI'S CASE. We just need to be patient.

No kidding. Tried to listen to Rush today and right out of the gate he got into his lecture mode on how he warned us about McCain, blah blah blah. It sounds like he can’t wait for our defeat so he can get on his told you so soapbox. Turned him off.

No matter who the candidate was these clowns would be crying foul. Let them go support their 2% candidate rather than question their own message.

Would like to see InSain win just to drive them goofy.

Pray for W and Our Troops
