For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk [McCain had an affair?]

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

Yeah, after 8 years of obama thing country will WAKE UP and throw aside the socialism like europe did after decades of intense socialism.. oh wait..

Frankly, they’re delusional if they think mccain=hillary=obama.

There’s a clear situation that it’s ‘bad’, but if you go towards obama you get not just a somewhat C grade conversavite.. You get a grade A socialist.

My view: This “story” is designed to change the story from Michelle Obama’s visceral anti-Americanism.

BINGO

"Then you’ll vote for obama?" Not me. I'll find some other candidate to vote for.

That would be fine with me. That would show two things. Conservatives don't support him and the Republican Party doesn't support conservatives.

Did he think the dems wouldn’lt use this against him? He’s dreaming. The liberal press puts him out there as the only candidate who can win, then discredit him so that obama and hillary can have a clear field...

wow, what strategy is that?

Twice. Only politician I ever gave money to. After he won in 2000 for his court fight with Algore. Satisfied?

At that time, when confronted with the bribery allegation, Mr. Ethical's answer was: "They (US Senators) all do it!".

According to Bob Bennett, appearing tonight on Hannity and Colmes, when he (Bob Bennett) was Democrat counsel for the Senate Ethics committee, he investigated McCain for a year and half in re Keating, and recommended to the Committee that McCain be dropped from the ethics investigation. The Democrats on the committee refused, because without the inclusion of McCain, all of the Senators named would have been Democrats.

I realize that I just gave you reams of information on his liberal gun control work.

Are you ready to read about his work on Global Warming yet? Algore talks the talk. McCain walks the walk.

Honestly I dunno who they wanted. Hunter? He’d be great, but c’mon.

I swear I’ve learned a lot from internet forums lately on the format wars. hddvd people posted for MONTHS these ridiculous claims that it would win, and are not saying they’ll NEVER buy blu-ray and would rather the entire HD market fail.

People get goofy online. If they can’t get it all, or even most, or even over 50% at all, they’ll sit it out and act the martyr.

There is some wisdom in what you say Martin. It is indeed difficult to continue the battle with the alway winning socialist pendulum, so why not concede defeat and let them have their way, showing the country for the first time, what socialism does to economic vitality.

But the thing is, that we have been there before. The New Deal, and other manifestations.

My take, is that even if all the conservatives vote for McCain, it will not be enough to stem the tide. We need to rebuild from the local out to the State, and be ready when the public calls for help again.

That's the reality, and I know that I will likely vote for the nominee, even while hating his guts. But I can't live with myself if I don't, and Obamma wins by a few votes. If he wins by a landslide, which is more likely, I will at least have cast a vote in the right general direction in the name of security and fiscal sanity.
