Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
I’ve observed and liked Ed Rollins for years. He is a populist conservative type. I’ve seen him work for Pat and Perot. He knows what Hucksters chances are at this point— would not sabotage John McCain
That said; I hope the NYT's enjoys it sludge level of journalism. And of course, we know they do. . .
Whoa! I am out of the loop here. What is this with Obama and gay sex in a limo and Edwards having an illegitmate child? Where do I find out about this?
Thanks for the info. The timing is odd. Look at the Drudge Report headline. It’s rather humorous.
Both Huck and Rollins have something very important in common... excessive pride.
Thanks, I will.
Mccains first wife and he were seperated when he met cindy. He admits his faults in his book. He has supported her and to this day still does. SHe also donates to his campaign and has a mccain bumper sticker on her car
Btw I changed the channel to hard ball tonight . and Olberman interrupted hard ball with a news breaking alert. He was rabid *L* thing was his news breaking alert consisted of a 20 year old story and a 10 year old story that was debunked in 2000
I also believe the only reason nyt endorsed mccain was because they knew their endorsement would get some republlcans fired up. and it did. Nyt is earning its new name New York Slimes
:~O
See reply #676, looks like the FCC was playing games.
It explains his fondness for Governor Suntan who is as secular as one can get. When Crist says, “God” it makes my skin crawl not that he says it very often.
So what about John McCain’s temper? Far preferable to Oboma’s vacuity which Hillary also shares. Cranky old guy is a better bet. His staff will rein him in
I was giving him a pass on the one shot down, since that was a legitimate one that he did pay dearly for. They say that if his father had not been a good officer, John McCain would have been tossed out.
I don’t know. Usually this kind of thing comes from the Clintons. Hillary will do her best to destroy all her rivals. Polls show McCain beating her in a general election.
He’s not guilty of anything. There was NO QUID PRO QUO!
Ch Crist the creeeeeeepy!
Oh sheese one plane caught on fire when he was flying it, another on navy ship was accidentally hit by a missile. and he was shot down in nam ur reading and believing that crap sampley posts on veterans dispatch~
At the time I was active in Arizona Republican politics. I was libertarian wing. We did not get along with McCain at all. If there was anything in the Keating affair that was improper we were watching like hawks and would have beat him over the head with it. In fairness, there was nothing.
Go blame Pinch Sulzberger for delaying for months this McCain garbage. Ed Rollins is solid, not a saboteur. He has a reputation to uphold in DC
According to the NYtimes, McCain was spending too much time with a female lobbyist in 2000 so his campaign told him to stop talking to her...
Yep...stick a fork in john mccain...he’s done.
....yawn....
Yep Bob bennett said tonight on hannity and colmes. he is a dem and he was hired by senates ethics committee to investigate. He said he investigated mccain for a year and a half. and found nothing unethical about him. and recommended they exonerate him. They didn’t do it because he was the only republican so they held him hostage so to speak.
