For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk [McCain had an affair?]

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

“So what’s the charge?
That 10 years ago McCain’s staff thought they might be having a romantic relationship and kept her away from him.

How’s that for front page, breaking New York Times news? </sarcasm>”

This is a “story” in the New York Times. The Weekly World News has more credibility, and better pictures.

John Weaver, who served as McCain’s closest confidant until leaving his current campaign last year, said he met with Vicki Iseman at the Center Cafe in Union Station and urged her to stay away from McCain.

Big deal???

It used to be we were supposed to vote for anyone but Hillary. Well Obama isn’t Hillary.

Isn’t a lobbyist job to influence legislation and part of that would be to tell the politician how they would like the legislation written? No matter the legislation it has to be voted on by the whole Congress and signed by the President.

Mr. Brightside - - You are buzzing around the reason for the Stalinist NYT hit piece.

My best guess: the fellow-travelers at the Old Grey Lady of the Evening are afraid that the allegations of a cocaine saturated homosexual (some refer to it as "gay") union between the Democrat (who wants us to think he has the moral compass or the to be president) and a perfect stranger (who IIRC VOLUNTEERED to take a POLYGRAPH!) might make some think in less-than-swooning terms about their hero, Mister Obama.

So, to cut THAT story off at the kneecaps, they trot out this cowardly Dan Ratherish ambush, so McCain has to publically defend himself, and Mr. And Mrs. Sixpack forget about OBAMA'S COCAINE HOMOSEXUAL UNION w STRANGE MAN.

The Obama story has huge LEGS potential. For starters, look at Larry Craig, and how precipitously he was dropped like a wide-stanced, Idaho potato(e). And, the (alleged) casual nature of cocaine use suggests that there might be some (powder and free-base) "there" there.

So, my FRiends, let's not let the Obama-homosex-cocaine allegation drop, until we can get a thorough, impartial investigation.

That was always the plan....get McCain nominated and then destroy him. He’ll be trivilized and marginalized by Letterman’s and Leno’s jokes, Stewart and Colbert will make him look like a clown, the MSM will basically ignore him, except when there’s something negative to be said. I’m not a McCain fan, but I think what will happen to him in the media and the pop culture will be awful.

I agree that there seems to be no evidence, just gossip. I hope it isn't true. If true, I absolutely blame the ole' war hero. Besides, he really wasn't a hero. He was a prisoner of war. That's not nothing and I respect his service, but it doesn't make him a hero and it doesn't give him a lifelong pass to cheat on the vows he has taken with his wife.

What we went through in 2000 and 2004 is going to be nothing compared to what is in store for McCain.

I'm not sure it makes any difference what they put out about McCain. The Dems are going to clean up in Nov, whether Obama or Clinton. Our only chance was someone new and different. Romney would have done better.

The sicko thing is NYT endorses McCain, then takes him out, all in less than a month. The media is evil and is destroying the country.

No other pilot crashed three aircraft, one of which caused a huge fire on his aircraft carrier killing dozens of his own men and then called a hero.
