Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
Romney did say he would work on behalf of McCain to convince his delegates to back him.
But nothing is set in stone until the delegates actually vote.
I am fairly confident that the GOP will not send a candidate who is already DOA into the general election.
So we’ll have to see how things flesh out before the convention.
From the NYT Comments section:
Quote:
Another disgusting hit job by the far left leaning
Times. When will you people learn you can not smear
people with not real evidence just for the purpose
of getting folks who think like you elected?
I anxiously await the day that you pathetic rag
finally goes belly-up!!!

HILLARY had her people put this out to squash the bigger story of her downfall. Thats all.
It ius kind of pathetic you believe what you read in the NYT. I suppose you are on of the principled conservatives though.
Exactly. They know that there’s something to the gaysex/crack smoking limo ride that would cripple OsaMessiah if it were to ever hit the MSM.
I say that if this is how they want to play, have someone from the McCain Campaign bring up the Limo incident first thing tomorrow. While they’re at it...throw out Hillary’s lesbian affair with her Muslim Aide as an added bonus.
Apparently a reporter was going to do a story on NYT sitting on the story and thus they released it now.
McCain has had more than his share of scandals - his previous adultery, the Keating 5, etc. This revelation is not surprising and there were whispers of this relationship already previously. He is the worst possible candidate that Soros, MSM, and left wing of GOP pushed on us.
Yes, but perhaps not about McCain.
“Nice try, but President Bush would never.”
Nice try at what? Geez. That’s her in the photo.
Doesn’t look like there’s any there there.
Some are saying the Keating 5 incident is bigger news.
But, I say, Obama snorting Cocaine is HIGHER!
;-0
He is. He may sue.
McCain was cheating on his first wife with Cindy. If he did it to his first wife, he’ll do it to Cindy too. You know what they say about “dirty old men.” LOL!
Let me get this straight. The NY Times endorses McCain, and then releases a hit on him?
Like I posted.
I knew President Bush adored lovely ladies!
One of the problems I’ve always had with McCain is that he divorced the wife who waited for him while he was a prisoner and did all she could to get him freed. Then married a woman with money. I’m still going to vote for him, though. There’s a lot I like and admire about him and a lot I don’t, but like it or not, he’s going to be the nominee. AND I DON’T WANT CLINTON OR OBAMA!!!
McCain campaign response:
“It is a shame that the New York Times has lowered its standards to engage in a hit and run smear campaign. John McCain has a 24-year record of serving our country with honor and integrity. He has never violated the public trust, never done favors for special interests or lobbyists, and he will not allow a smear campaign to distract from the issues at stake in this election.
“Americans are sick and tired of this kind of gutter politics, and there is nothing in this story to suggest that John McCain has ever violated the principles that have guided his career.”

There’s were millions simply enraptured by rudy911 and he not only had affairs, he was blatantly open about it.
Morals are passé these days.
Looks like a young Peggy Noonan to me.
