Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
I think we might have seen McCain, flying coach and carrying his own bags through the airport, again.
Instead the New york Times sat on a story and even, pathetic as it was , endorsed Mccain. There is no way you could call this anything other than intentional manipulation of the election process.
OOOPS, my mistake...I was thinking of the other party..LOL!! What do you do in this situation than? A recall? What? I need enlightenment :)
I see two possibilities.
1. There is more to this story. The NYT wants to give McCain an opportunity to respond, so they’ll be able to release more info which will make McCain look like a liar.
2. There isn’t anything more to this story. In that case, this is just the first of many hit pieces by the Times.
Either way, there is much more to come from the NYT.
Bob Dole will use this as a commerical....vote
for Mac....he’s a protege of Bill Clinton?? JK
I think what makes the most sense is that the McCain camp leaked this on itself to get it out there and get rid of it.
Oh Lawdy... here we go!
Well, better get the news out now than in October...
WEll, it could have been Huck..ya know?
A one line story with no back up evidence about someone thinking and feeling and believing and revolving around innuendo from 8 yrs ago?
That is just Clintonistas, or maybe Arkansasistas?
She’s uglier than Cindy.
"You don't know the powerrrr of the Dark Side."
Things like this never matter to democrat party supporters. In fact, randiness in his past would only make him a more attractive candidate...
...now if they revealed that he didn't recycle or was still using incandescent bulbs in the Obama household, that would be a completely different story...
“Now we know why McCain hates religious people.”
Now he hates religious people too lol. First let’s prove the unsubstantiated NYSlimes innuendo that he had an affair.
God knows, no “religious” people have ever had affairs.
There is a saying in Washington.
Does the story have LEGS?
If they are discussing this next week, then it is more than a minor buzz.
[Note, I texted a hottie Lobbyist to check on Vickie, and the staus of McCain as an alleged “skirt chaser”. The hot ladies have a 6th sense for these things. IMO, this is typical NYT, like the National Guard story on Bush.]
Maybe to buffer Obama when his time comes?
At least the commies at the NYT pulled this sh*t before the convention. Maybe this will allow someone else to step up. They ran the story to soon.
Your SHE-DEVIL post made me think about the “timing” ,of this story’s being broken...McCain had just attacked Obama as though he (McCain) is the presumptive GOP nominee and as if Obama is the presumptive Demo nominee, and then THIS story hit...It could the The NY Times’ way of defending the Obamanation, I don’t doubt that. But if the story has merit/legs, it’s still going to be “curtains” for McAmnesty.
Well there's a shocker! In six months we'll be seeing NYT's in depth expose's about how McCain pulled wings from flies as a four year old.
Not unless they’re withholding real evidence and just want to twist McCain’s arm in the arena of public opinion? Never underestimate the NYT.
