Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
They had this in DECEMBER- they sat on it til AFTER MCCain had in all likelihood gotten the nod from the GOP...
You're right this is the big story.
Lobbyist Vicki Iseman!
261,000 Lobbyists and that DAME had to be one!
;-)
“McCain...likes to pretend he’s 25....”
Gee that’s exactly what his first wife said about him when he was having the affair with now-wife Cindy.
Did you read the story? It only says there may have been some concern of an appearance of impropriety. No one substantiates an affair. If the NYT really wanted to destroy McCain they would have saved this for October. Now there is plenty of time to refute it.
Of all the Dames to work in Washington D.C.?
That makes two of us!
Half the people in the World are women, but it had to her?
I think if you force an extremely weak candidate as your nominee, you deserve to lose the White House. McCain won’t win over 50% of his own party. How can you defend this poor choice?

MEDIA FIREWORKS: MCCAIN PLEADS WITH NY TIMES TO SPIKE STORY
Thu Dec 20 2007 10:49:27 ET
Just weeks away from a possible surprise victory in the primaries, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz has been waging a ferocious behind the scenes battle with the NEW YORK TIMES, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, and has hired DC power lawyer Bob Bennett to mount a bold defense against charges of giving special treatment to a lobbyist!
McCain has personally pleaded with NY TIMES editor Bill Keller not to publish the high-impact report involving key telecom legislation before the Senate Commerce Committee, newsroom insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
The paper’s Jim Rutenberg has been leading the investigation and is described as beyond frustrated with McCain’s aggressive and angry efforts to stop any and all publication.
The drama involves a woman lobbyist who may have helped to write key telecom legislation. The woman in question has retained counsel and strongly denies receiving any special treatment from McCain.

Eggxactly, Tanker!
Even if its false, its not like this guy hasn’t had skirt-chasing issues. Very shrewd on the NY Times part but equally disturbing after they endorsed him.
Oh, I’m glad that Drudge wrote it that way!
Just wait till the LDS reads the NY Times!
Well, it Keith Olberman says it’s gospel, it must be so. He is THE most ethical and objective journalist/reporter on TV. Right?
Thank you.
Yes, the real meat of the story may be the possibility that McCain abused his position on the Commerce Committee. In many ways, that’s actually worse.
Yeah, McCain is an ex con who got out of jail. Sick.
It’s okay, JFK did it. ;)
Keith UberLib was slobbering all over this on DNC TV.
This story, and I repeat, DOES NOT HELP SUCKABEE!! He hasn’t won a Northern state or Western state, and he won’t. He’s strictly an Evangelical candidate.
That being said, I wouldn’t put it past Romney and Suckabee to patch up their differences and consider teaming up against McCain.
Romney looks bad for having now endorsed McCain.
