MILWAUKEE -- Michelle Obama made two separate remarks in Wisconsin on Monday declaring a new pride she has felt in her country -- comments that today came under oblique attack from another would-be first lady, Cindy McCain.
At a midday event on Monday in Milwaukee, Obama said, "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
A few hours later in Madison, she made a similar point, although with some adjustments to her language:
"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country -- not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment."
Press reports, including on this blog, initially confused the two events (my note: Probably INTENTIONALLY!)

"For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
Notice that the world "really" is missing from her first speech.
Cindy has two sons in the military and an ex-POW husband...and Michelle? What has her husband done for the country, other than running around inflicting his empty speeches on it?
The problem wasn’t the difference between proud or really proud. The problem was “For the first time in my adult life”. Leave that part off and the statement in either form (proud or really proud) is perfectly acceptable. Apparently that’s what they don’t understand.

I agree, but people defending what she said are doing it soley on the second speech where she prefixed proud by the word “really” and then they parse what she meant. These people refuse to even acknowledge the first speech made in Milwaukee.
Is this another one of those "Lesser of Two Evils" trick questions?
I would bet that Barak took his wife into some remote room and told her a few things. Like “listen you dumb *****, you’re going to cost me the election with your stupid remarks. At least fake being proud of your country”. Her statement might cost Obama two million votes in the general election. If Obama has any brains, he’ll try to muzzle her and keep her offstage.
I do know of one Republican who had Bambi eyes, that did a complete 180 when she heard Michelle say this..
Gave her enough pause to actually take a second look at what Obama really IS.
LOL Not exactly.
Interesting.
In the olden days when the liberal big-city newspapers and “big three” networks thoroughly controlled the selection, spin, and dissemination of the daily news, Democrat scumbags like Michelle Obama would have gotten away with this deception just as surely as Dan Rather would have gotten away with his forged National Guard memo.
Thank God those days are gone forever.
And let... the games begin!
No......not really
Perahps, but remember this is the guy who disses people for wearing an American flag lapel pin and refuses to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. In his Hyde Park and Cambridge circle, that's normal, even a cause for admiration. But Americans notice things like that. With nothing else to go on, they will make their decisions based on these kinds of perceptions. Once again, this will be an election where "character counts".
must have been a very uninformed GOPer to start with
anyone who pays attention knows Obama is a Mau Mau
guilty whites are enamoured with him
ever notice how most of the bigtime black political demigods are mixed race
coincidence?
/s
Obama wouldn’t dare do that, she’s his political meal ticket- without her, he’d have been chased from South Side politics as “too white” and “acts white”.
This is how they really feel, both of them.
This statement made me decide to vote for McCain and to actively support him.
This will go well with the photo of Obama refusing to salute the flag, and make a good commercial.
