Analysis: Clinton could turn toxic as options dry up
The London Times ^ | February 20, 2008 | Gerard Baker

few months back, as Barack Obama’s campaign was just beginning to look like it might seriously challenge Hillary Clinton’s presidential ambitions, a senior Obama campaign official sent a warning to his staff.

It was a succinct message designed to forewarn and forearm his people against what was expected to be a ferocious onslaught from an increasingly desperate Clinton campaign.

“Better get your hazmat suits on”, the memo told them

If they didn’t do it then, the Obama team should now be reaching urgently for the protective outerwear, because following another night of crushing defeat for Mrs Clinton, it seems that the Clintons have only one remaining hope if they are to wrest the Democratic nomination – a highly toxic attack on the man who is now clearly the frontrunner.

If Obama knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay out of small airplanes.

He is struggling very hard with the fact he is not the one being adored and worshipped.

&&&
I think I have to admit that it is the sweetest thing for me in all of this to imagine the Clintons’ red-faced indignation at this.

Obama followers are the children of Clinton followers. The apple does not fall far from the stupid tree.

Her mistake was agreeing to play nice at, and just following the last debate. That well orchestrated kissyfest debate was her downfall. She should of came out swinging and stayed swinging until he was knocked down a level or two, instead of talking about the photograph of the Obama family she has in her office and playing to the audience with the question of the Obama/Clinton Dream Team.

I hope that they are not in danger of making the mistake of voting for him again... RIGHT?

RIGHT! They're all convinced he's an evil Muslim who is determined to turn the whole country into an Islamic state .... but at the time of the primary, they were more scared of Hellary because they've seen the Clintons in action in the White House before. They'll vote McCain ... but they would not have voted for Romney (evil Mormon). Senior citizen politics can be very 'interesting'.

"Clinton could turn toxic"

"Obama is going to wake up, realize the sheets are sticky, kick back the covers and find Michelle’s head under there"

I am just hoping beyond all reason that sometime in the next few months Michelle says at a microphone, "Our administration ..." and "We're going to take those profits from the oil companies ..."

Then the nation will see they would be getting, with an Obama Presidency, a black Hillary in the White House.

Winner: McCain

If Barack should perish from Arkancide, the Dems should follow the new, post-modern fashion established by Hitlery herself...MICHELLE should ascend to the Candidacy. If Michelle also falls prey to Arkancide, then Barack's family tree, forwards & backwards, should be followed in accord with generally accepted probate principles, then Michelle's family tree...& etc.

After all, since family members derive from their status ALL the necessary experience & qualifications for the office sought, this would keep with the current, Clintonian fashion...and drive all Clintonian libruls further to the brink...

The truth is that this election will be driven by young voters. The 18 - 35 year olds will elected the President. Not soccer moms. Not Hispanics. Not Blacks. Not Republican or Democrat.

But YOUNG vs. OLD !

John McCain is over 72 and looks his age. Obama will pick Edwards for Veep.

Do I need to draw anymore pictures __________ ?

Younger voters want medical care. They want more security, especially for raising children. More and more employers are playing exotic games to eliminate medical care: Hiring part time workers or 'contract workers' or using temporary worker hired through agencies.

And 401(k)s have replaced pension programs today. That was never anticipated when the company investment account and IRA were invented. They were intended only to be supplementary to pension programs.

Time to wake up people! Smell the coffee.

Geesh!

I’m torn ... I’d like to see Hitlery defeated forever.

If she loses the nomination this year, she might be back. If she loses a NATIONAL election, I don’t think she could handle making a comeback - she’d have shot her wad and would be spending most of the time crying for votes. So I’m torn. Have her lose the nominatin or the national election?

I think it is now or never for Hillary...if she loses the nomination and Obama is elected, then there’s no opening in 2012 on the Democrat side...but even if Obama loses, I don’t think there will be much demand for her in the Democrat party in 2012. If she couldn’t win this year, when she was thought to be the inevitable nominee, why would she do better four years from now? Can she somehow become more likeable?

You’re wrong. Obama is worse than a socialist. He is a communist and has been since he was a teenager.

When living in Hawaii from age 9 until his late teens, Obama’s mentor was Frank Marshall Davis, an avowed communist. A publicly identified member of the Communist Party USA, Davis, a black writer/poet, was acknowledged by Barack Obama in his own autobiography, Dreams From My Father, as being a strong influence in helping him find his identity as an African-American, and helping point him towards the politically active Chicago where he honed his political acumen.

When Michelle Obama said she had never been proud of the U.S. before - BELIEVE HER!

The truth is that this election will be driven by young voters.

You may well be right. And their chosen pop Song Of The Year was a tune called 'Rehab' by Amy Winehouse...

They're tryin' to make me go to Rehab,
I say, 'No, No, No!'
