I think Obama is weaker than Hillary in the general election. Other than during Reconstruction, only two blacks have ever been elected governor, and only three blacks have ever been elected to the Senate.

Of the governors, one was in Massachusetts, the most left-wing state in the nation, and the other campaigned as a moderate and barely won in Virginia. Of the Senators, one was in Massachusetts, the other two in Illinois. Both of the Illinois elections were “flukish”. Carole Moseley-Braun won when her idiot Republican opponent, Rich Williamson, flip-flopped on abortion and gay “rights”, and virtually apologized for being a Republican, in mid-campaign. Obama won in an election where the GOP had been decimated by statewide scandals and they had to import Alan Keyes to find a candidate.

For Obama to win, he’d have to carry a whole lot of states that have never even been willing to elect a black to the Senate or governorship. Granted, in many cases they’ve never had a viable black candidate for those offices. Black candidates have two problems. One is that most black candidates are far, far left-wing. Too far left to get many whites to vote for them (The few that aren’t, incidentally, can’t get enough black votes to win). The other problem is that there are still a lot of voters who won’t vote for a black candidate. They won’t tell you that’s the case, but it is.

Obama is riding high right now because people aren’t really focused and they don’t know how far to the loony left he is. But it’s hard for me to imagine state voters that have never elected a black to an important statewide office suddenly going for an inexperienced, radically leftist, former Muslim for the highest office in the land.

Of course, McCain’s a weak GOP candidate, so I guess we can’t say for sure how it will go. But I think Obama will fizzle as the campaign progresses and voters focus on who and what he really is. That’s my opinion.

I am begining to come to your way of thinking.

Good post, puro......I agree with your reasoned opinion that Obama will be easier to beat than the Hildebeest in the general election.

The anti-war bunch is motivated now (fainting and all that jazz) and are turning out to vote for him. Those Democrats that can't stand a woman as CIC or a black with a muslim background for president are sitting on their hands in the primary but will be motivated to go to the polls in November....and I believe a good percentage of them will vote for McCain.

Once Hussein's radical voting record both in Illinois and D.C. gets around, he's toast. However, it's up to McCain and his campaign to get the word around because the media won't do it. Talk show hosts like Rush will bash Obama and will not support McCain if present indications are correct, but it's somewhat of a help as half a loaf is better than none.

Wait till Rush and others get going on Obama's radical voting record. Better yet, the wunderkind will have to defend his record in debates. I don't think the experienced McCain will be bested in debate by the smooth-talk and empty rhetoric of the lefty con-artist activist who sprang from working the south-side Chicago streets and housing projects with Jesse Jackson.

By the way, Rush's parody on Obama, "Hope", is hillaryous......it's almost perfect satire........he should play it once an hour.
