Well, sadly, I predict that this time next year we will be saying President Obama. Pehaps he’ll be wearing Fidel-style fatigues by then.
>>I sense a great disturbance in the force...its as if a million feminists looked up from their bowls of rancid apple butter, cried out, and were silenced...<<
About one post per six months gets me to laugh out loud.
Yours did.
Good job!
The war isn’t even an issue. Neither Obama nor Hillary usually even bring it up. “Wilsonianism” has nothing to do with it. It’s all about having a lame candidate on our side, and on their side having a large percentage of the people wanting freebies.

You are so right!
I have had two family members shock me in recent months by saying that they are for Loony Ron. Each of these individuals strikes me as otherwise sensible when it comes to politics.
But what the fail to ask is if his change is constitutional.
&&&
They also fail to ask if it’s change for the better. Death and getting fired are also changes, but people don’t usually want to experience them.
“she will also carry Pennsylvania”
PA is a done deal. She gets it easy. Rendell payoff.

Yeah, expect Philadelphia to show 100% voter turnout yet again.
They probably think it will come from the “richest” Americans (i.e. “not them”).
To them it doesn’t feel like socialism until it’s their pocket getting picked.
Also, they’re not the brightest lights on the string, if you get my meaning.
The house dropped and the lollipop guild is giving giant lollipops to puff the magic muslim.

70 percent declare GWB a failure. Some do so on the basis of catering to illegals; others on the basis of high fuel prices; others on failure to control government spending; others on the out-sourcing of U.S. jobs. Declaring GWB a success won’t fly with most any more.
It might be that we would be better off if Hillary won the nominaton, but wishing one way or the other doesn't make it so. The Dems are the ones voting for Obama, not conservatives. What difference does it make what the people on FR wish for? We can't influence the Dems elections one way or another.
What we can do is try to beat the snot out of whoever wins the dem nomination. I have a wish, since we are discussing wishes. I wish we had someone who was a real conservative running against the Dems. I am afraid McCain will not win, regardless of who gets the nomination. The RNC has screwed the entire party by making sure McCain won.
bump
Once again, the great Socialist State of the People's Republic of Wisconsin have (or is it "has"??) spoken.
Now...back to my vodka and borscht!
“If you think losing a war and turning your life over to a bunch of socialists, well, by all means, continue your temper tantrum and refuse to vote in November.”
Uhhh. Who said anything about not voting? I fully intend to show up and vote in November. And I will vote for conservatives, to the extent that they appear on the ballot. Unfortunately, the GOP has failed to nominate a conservative for President, so I won’t be voting for the GOP nominee. I expect at least one and perhaps two conservatives will run on third party tickets, and I will vote for one of them.
And while we’re in a sparing mood, it would be nice to be spared the continuous rant about how life as we know it will end if conservatives fail to vote for the Presidential candidate that the GOP wants to foist upon us. If the GOP was concerned about securing the votes of conservatives, it could start by nominating a conservative for President.
Hi LTGM:
I apologize to you for my gruff retort last night. My truck blew a rod, my dog died, my wife left me, and I found out I was a lesbian. That’s more explanation than excuse. After all, it’s not all bad.
I have read FR almost every day since 2003.
I was against McCain’s nomination from the beginning to the (almost) end. I supported FT. Mostly, I oppose McCain’s support of illegal immigration. I believe we should consider adopting Mexican enforcement policies used at its southern border. I disagree with McCain-Feingold supported by politicians who put the status quo above the First Amendment. I don’t like Lindsey Graham either. I don’t care for McCain’s chubbiness with Clinton, Kennedy et al. He’s stubborn, with a bad temper, and therefore he is intemperate. His overall health is a concern.
I agree with him on important issues: The WOT generally (except his refusal to confront the open borders’ component), the battle in Iraq especially; right to life; his prognosis for judicial appointments is good; compared to O and H he’s much better on the Second Amendment; and OK on fiscal prudence. I don’t know much about the Gang of Fourteen. Seems like we got some good judges up and down the federal court system. His life experience qualifies him for the Presidency much more than do those of O or H.
So, it’s a mixed bag with McCain for me. It seems like I used to support my candidate with more excitement. Now I don’t have a candidate. That reflects the leftward drift nationally; my views have been pretty static for a few decades. I did campaign for McGovern door to door in a southern state. That was humiliating, but it’s funny to me now.
Anyway, as always, I will vote a straight Republican ticket if I am still qualified to vote in November simply because the democrats are so much worse in every single way. HRC might even be a threat to our Republic I believe. Obama is maybe the most transparent black guy on the planet. “There’s no there there,” as someone said referring, I think, to Oakland. So, I can’t go for him.
Like Rumsfeld said, you go to war with the army you’ve got, and this will be an historically bloody political war because of the absence of an incumbent and cleavages just coming to the surface. It will leave a mark.
So that’s my view on things about McCain. I don’t try to whitewash for the guy. If you need your field tilled, you get the best jackass you can find.
That’s it.
