And at that time, the news media were still lavishing love on Obama. That situation is about to end. "He's the fashion plate of the moment," an editorial page editor remarked, "but fashion week is over."
Sophisticated commentary now notes the growing creepiness of the Obama campaign: Its aversion to substantive policy discussions. The sermonizing -- "In the face of despair, we believe there can be hope." And the messianic bit -- "At this moment in the election there is something happening in America." (That would be he.)
Volunteer trainees at Camp Obama are told not to talk issues with voters, but to offer personal testimony about how they "came" to Obama. Makes the skin crawl.
Centrists generally do not find cults of personality entertaining. The mass hypnosis reminds them of the mortgage frenzy -- all these people buying into a dream and not caring about the fine print.
The Republican Party, meanwhile, has given them a choice. This is despite the best efforts of its right wing to pick a candidate against whom any Democrat would be better. And the more the radicals beat up on the Arizona senator, the more he looks like a contender to moderate Democrats.

Thanks read page four, bookmarked so I can read the previous three pages after classes.
I didn’t mean to link to page 4, meant to start at page 1.
That’s their jobs, twist it into a different meaning. Leading the reader to the conclusion they want them to arrive at.
I bet many do. Whether they admit it or not............
I’m not for McCain and I’m not voting for him, but I’ve said all along that he might win simply because both ‘Rat contenders are totally appalling. McCain can win by default.
I remember when FReepers complained that Hunter had no charisma. Here's what having charisma has brought us too.
I’m gonna catch hell for this because I do every time I say it. Here’s goes...me and mine are writing in Hunter.
I’m still in the “Reach out for change I can believe in” mode. I’ll reach that state when my rebate check is in the bank.
AND, falling out and speaking in tongues.
Looks like both the “Inevitable” candidate and the “Messianic” candidate will have problems come August.
I agree. I early on I just thought she just had some bad pictures taken of her and sliped up a bit talking. But the more I see of her, the more I see the anger inside of her and the more she says stuff that turns people off. I defiantly think she will be a negative in Obama’s campaign.
Remember, hitler wrote, Mein Kampf.
That’s ok, I have your link bookmarked. Lunch is almost over.
His new religion could rewrite some classic prayers.
“Obama, who art in Washington, hollowed be thy mandate...”
Without any help from me and mine as well.
Be back after school's out.
How long before his followers beging mumbling the following sattements:
Obama is mother, and Obama is father.
Obama is the beginning and the end.
All comes from Obama, and all leads to Obama.
I continued to write out the Obama prayer but it gave me the willies . . .
I don’t like Obama either. I know he’s doing better than Hillary in the polls right now, but he’s eminently defeatable. I mean Rasmussen had McCain up 16 points over him in Florida yesterday! Obama is an empty suit and I think disgruntlement with his shallow campaign will only grow.
Obama squeeks this line: “Yes, we can.”
My response is, “No, you can’t.”
