Do you really believe that a Ronald Reagan will come along in four yrs. to save us from a HClinton/Clinton or Barry Obsama Presidency? I don’t. I see a stranglehold on the White House and the military.

McCain is not ideal, but this author is right. America First.

LOL, everytime I try to walk away from this discussion, I get dragged back in...

What am I missing? Why is it so hard to imagine McCain tapping a young(er) Conservative veep, who will become the heir apparent and move the party back to the right?

And wouldn’t you rather have even MODERATE judges than the looney-lefties a Dem will give us?

And how in God’s name can you ignore national security? Even if all three candidates were equally bad on the borders, McCain alone will continue to prosecute the GWOT aggressively.

Like it or not - and I don’t - McCain, with the help of the MSM and a RIDICULOUS nominating process, has outmaneuvered us; and I for one am not going to bite off my nose to spite my face. Conservative principals WILL NOT DIE under a McCain Presidency - they will just be put on hold till the next cycle. In the meantime, we can do what we can to elect Conservatives down-ticket.

And what about abortion? How - in God’s name how - can you work to put a pro-abortionist in the White House? And make no mistake, if you withold your support from McCain, that is EXACTLY what you are doing.

There is no guarantee that every liberal will be a failure at all levels like Jimmy Carter or corrupt enough to undermine his presidency like Bill Clinton. We could end up with “another” FDR, Woodrow Wilson, or JFK, men that altered the political landscape forever, or for decades, respectively.

The world is a different place than it was 27 years ago. America has changed a great deal. I don't think we can depend on a hero conservative bailing us out after 4-8 miserable years with Mrs. Clinton or Obama.

A complete nonsequitur. There is no assurance that the electorate will reject the liberalism of Hillobama in four or eight years. Nor is there any assurance that there will be a conservative Savior to ride to the rescue. You people out there wishing and hoping for a Hillobama win in 2008 so you can "come back" the next time around, better be careful of what you wish for. You're wishing for a 1980 redux. You may get 1932 instead.

It's nonsense that Carter begat Reagan. Carter begat Carter, and Reagan begat Reagan.

Why do you assume that we’ll get another RR? Politics is not the place for ideological purity.

We endured Jimmy Carter and got RR? America got lucky. We still suffer from many of Carter’s incompetent actions to this day; Iran, Panama Canal, Taiwan, etc.

The argument does not hold water, and Ronald Reagan made his share of mistakes as well.

Ronald Reagan had a good working relationship with many Dems in congress, supported an immigration amnesty, cut and ran from Lebanon, and made concessions to the Russians in the anti-proliferation talks. Oh yeah, and two of his appointees to the SCOTUS have sided with the liberals on many key conservative issues.

By the standards of most of the posters here that makes him a liberal, so I don’t understand what people who keep posting this mean.
