Forget the Kool-Aid: Obama's Support is Real (Site Link Via Jack McCain on Sis Meghan's Blog)

With Barack Obama's bandwagon picking up speed, Hillary Clinton's sympathizers have been pushing a new caricature of their opponent: the cultish figure who seduces the weak-kneed masses with vague and meaningless but oh-so-warm-feeling generalities.

"There was something just a wee bit creepy," Time's Joe Klein, a Bill and Hillary stalwart, recently wrote, "about the mass messianism…of (Obama's) Super Tuesday speech and the recent turn of the Obama campaign."

Alex Joseph, a student at Georgetown University who supports Clinton, boasted in a Slate column of his unique-for-his-generation ability to resist the siren Obama's call.

"At Georgetown," he informed us, "the Obama supporters—devotees? cultists?—are everywhere."

In their telling, the choice for Democrats is one between the brain and the heart. Obama is for hopeless romantics who are unschooled in and ignorant of the details of public policy and the realities of politics, while Clinton is for the more intellectually mature among us—sober-minded policy purists who have mastered the art of thinking with their heads.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ which linked me to the NewYorkObserver story Forget the Kool-Aid: Obama's Support is Real, is where Midshipman Jack McCain says he goes for political updates, when not reading and/or contributing to his sister Meghan's Blogette. McCain's son, Jack, writes on his sister's blog site: www.McCainBlogette.com -Musings and Pop Culture on the Political Trail

"Little Brother"
POSTED BY JACK

Hello everyone,

While I'm not exactly a Blogette, I thought I'd give my sister, who's isn't feeling well, a break and write about being something of a campaign outsider. My name is Jack and I'm Meghan's little brother. I'm a Midshipman at the Naval Academy, studying International Relations. It's probably pretty obvious that I have nowhere near the fashion sense of my big sister.

When I'm on a leave, I'm a huge fan of driving race cars and eating real Mexican food. Unfortunately, I don't get outside of the Academy much so I am following the presidential race through the blog and www.realclearpolitics.com. For those of you who don't have a permanent seat on the Straight Talk Express, I'm just like you! More &(pics)..

McCain says he likes to keep his kids out of the spotlight, but 23 year old Meghan is campaigning by his side "writing entries about having fun on the campaign trail, as the official campaign staff to be nervously eyes her from a distance. "I thought there are probably a lot of people out there who have no idea what a campaign is like, what it looks like, what a campaign feels like," she says of the inspiration for her blog, which is funded and operated independent from the campaign. "I wanted to show my friends and people that so much about politics and so much happens behind the scenes.. And that is what you get on McCain Blogette -- ephemera, not politics or policy. The girls post photos of "Dad," the candidate, having his makeup done in the pre-debate green room.

Actually this little "hip" key ingredient, "get to know the McCain kids" could definitely help McCain's image which now appears to younger voters and even the mother/daughter vote which Hillary attracts; as an "insensitive, old guy politician in a stiff collar with business suit, all gruff n' stuff". The McCain Kids-give Dad a more hip key likeability factor that could help save McCain over Obama. Enter: Brain, meet Heart and Vice Versa.

Meghan McCain's Playlist Volumes make for good listening too.

How is that a caricature? It's accurate.

Bet Billary never expected the shoe to be on the other foot. We could never understand the left’s infatuation with them.

The white racists in the rat party will never vote for obama in the general election. The rats are in big trouble. I fully expect race riots at the rat convention this summer. Bring your own hoses.

I figure that's where Sinclair-YouTube's-Obama originated from.

Obama is getting so popular amongst the media and the teeny libs that I’m surprised McCain hasn’t suspended his campaign yet to endorse Obama. The media would love that.

Actually Real Politics.com is where everyone goes to get their political news... That and Politico.com.

I do agree with you about the McCain kids though. They are quite fresh and funny. The fact that they’re all in their twenties and teens makes John McCain seem younger and more fresh than he is. Meghan McCain’s blog is quite a neat take on politics. (She’s very much her dad’s daughter). I also McCain is hilarious in his own right... The New Yorker wrote this in depth article on McCain, and I have to say that the Straight Talk Express has to be the best ticket in town (despite the fact that McCain is in desperate need of new jokes). John McCain is the “underdog” in the election, so I really hope that he keeps his campaign as is...

That would be because McCain wants to be President, really enjoys campaigning, and thinks that Obama is a moron.

The latter I visit once in a great while, but am not part of the "everyone" on the aforementioned site :(

I try to find paths less traveled..when I start out I never know where I am going to end up..is the love of the hunt.

A funny McCain, Obama, Hillary, Rudy -- 24/Jack Bauer Video, I just came across:

Yes, but it seems he craves positive media attention even more than that. Maybe if he wins the GE he'll step down in favor of Obama. The media would love that.

"I fully expect race riots at the rat convention this summer. Bring your own hoses."

Actually, to help grease the wheels along, younger inspired people should flood the meth, crack and blotter acid market by selling cheap in Denver, making up in quantity. If anybody still knows how to do that anymore. It's the 40th Anniversary of '68 afterall!

I cut HS in the early 70's with 'buddies' to observe a few NYC anti-war demonstrations. They weren't what you think. 80% of those people were stoned. 25% were tripping. 5% were fall-down wasted. And we felt proudly adult to drink in dirty bars in Times Square at the 'tender' age of 16.

Why should Denver be any different from that? Unless a tornado forms and dumps softball-sized slushballs on everybody and they get drenching wet. Those will soak you faster than a firehose in summer.

I highly doubt that McCain would step down... I’m sure that being President is quite an ego boost... Plus, even though they’re leftists, the media is actually kinda favorable toward him. McCain is likely to call press conferences every other day if he becomes President since he really likes to hear himself talk. This will keep the media in business, but I’m sure that it’ll get obnoxious after awhile.
