ATLANTA, Feb. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- As things begin to heat up in a busy legislative session in Georgia, and state lawmakers fight over their own special interests some of these political tensions have clearly lead to the arrest of one demonstrator this week. Robert Roethlisberger Jr., of Clarkston, Georgia, was arrested on February 15, 2008, while holding a sign promoting House Resolution 536 known as the "Human Life Amendment." It is an attempt to place on this year's election ballot an amendment to the state Constitution that would protect human life at every stage of development.
"Having been arrested for criminal trespass while standing on a street corner can only give you the idea that someone wants your message to disappear," said Roethlisberger. "A 'right to petition' are the last three words written in our first amendment to 'The Bill of Rights' but this right carries little meaning if you get arrested for expressing a need for change in government," says Roethlisberger about his most recent arrest.
Roethlisberger continues, "Everyone living in the state of Georgia that believes in life needs to demand from Mr. Speaker Glen Richardson that H.R.536 gets to the floor of the House for a vote and also ask for their own State Assemblyman's support for H.R.536 so that the people of Georgia can have this opportunity to vote for life on their 2008 election ballot."

Feels like there is more to this story than is being told in this one-sided report.
Stay off those sidewalks. Chaining yourself and blocking doors seem to be acceptable lately though.
Plus, assuming events are as described, if "they" would go this far to allow the slaughter of the innocents to continue, would "they" hesitate for second before disposing of Ol' Ben, er, Bob?
I wonder where the sidewalk was that he was protesting. I support his cause, but I am not sure I would be ok with him protesting on the sidewalk outside my business if it was causing commotion or potential danger say, to my kids, if it was on the sidewalk in front of my house, or in front of my business. In most cities the property owner is responsible for the sidewalk maintenance in front of his property. I wonder if there is not more than meets the eye here.

Abortion pictures lead to arrest

Print story Email to a friend Font size:BUFORD, Ga., Nov. 28 (UPI) — A truck driver is facing disorderly conduct charges after displaying banners featuring images of aborted fetuses at a crowded mall in Georgia.
Robert Roethlisberger was arrested Friday after someone called police to report the three banners were affixed to his truck at the Mall of Georgia in Buford, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.
Roethlisberger was released Monday on $1,200 bail.
Police cited a provision of the misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge that pertains to “the display of obscene and vulgar images visible to persons under age 14.”
The incident has drawn reactions from both sides of the abortion issue.
“If these images are so awful that we don’t want to see them, perhaps we shouldn’t tolerate the act of abortion,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, an anti-abortion group that employs Roethlisberger.
However, abortion rights advocates said the graphic displays are likely to backfire against their creators.
“These kinds of antics do nothing to educate young people about ways to prevent an unintended pregnancy. These disturbing images do nothing but enrage people,” said Leola Reis, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of Georgia.
If the organization that posted this item had been more forthcoming on both sides of the arrest, it would have been more helpful.
A mental experiment.
In a certain country the Supreme Court decides that gassing Jews is legally protected activity on the grounds of the right of the gasser to privacy.
Not everyone agrees, and some advocate to place limits on the gassing of the Jews. One of so minded people is seen on the street displaying a sign “Support H.R.XYZ” and a photograph of the Auschwitz corpses in a stack.
He is arrested for display of “obscene and vulgar material”.
Political speech is not impeded at all in that country. It is all about vulgarity.
