Speak to us, oh beautiful one, tell us how you make that glorious sound, that even now an anticipation of it has reduced me to a snarling, raging, panting, jungle beast!
Birdie:
You gotta be sincere! You gotta be sincere! You gotta feel it here, 'Cause if you feel it here, Well, then you're gonna be honestly sincere!

Over the past weekend, several keen observers of politics suddenly noticed that Sen Obama was giving speeches recycling the same content-free platitudes that marked one of the strangest in American politics: that of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
Dont tell me words dont matter, Mr. Obama said at one event. I have a dream just words? We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal just words? We have nothing to fear but fear itself just words? Just speeches?
Unfortunately, Patrick said the same thing in 2006.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal just words? Just words? Patrick said in October, 2006. We have nothing to fear but fear itself just words? Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Just words? I have a dream just words?
Sen. Clinton of all people is trying to turn Mr. Obamas speaking talents against him when she warns voters not to just listen to the music but to make the candidate note specifics. In response, Mr. Obama angrily exclaimed, Its true that speeches dont solve all problems, he said. But what is also true if we cannot inspire the country to believe again, it doesnt matter how many policies and plans we have.
After Mr. Patricks landslide win of the Massachusetts governorship, he has been forced to retreat to a barricade erected around his Statehouse office. His grand, meaningless plattitudes have soured into a governorship marked by petulance and arrogance as he spends his time now sealed-off from both the public and the press (except for his drooling synchophant trust babies at the Boston Globe Workers Circle) as he gazes at his governorship shipwreck and curses the louts who dare call him on his already failed administration.
As Governor Patrick hides in his office, snarling at the outside world of ungrateful Massachusetts liberals who gave him his win through a combination of ignorance, stupidity, guilt, cupidity, and plain old anti-Americanism, Mr. Obama sailing the same Styrofoam-hulled vessel towards higher office over a sea made calm by a drooling, synchophant press reacts in the same way to justifiable criticism of his utter lack of experience, courage, achievement, or toughness by striking-out at any who question. It is only Ms. Clintons high negatives that have saved him from having to answer any questions about himself or his candidacy. In fact, Mr. Obama has told us that experience is not a qualification for high office, but rather, a hindrance to achieving an offices goals or meeting its responsibilities.
