A familiar figure to anyone who follows local politics in Galveston County, Chris Peden has launched his Congressional campaign, expecting to deliver the same conservative leadership for our Congressional district as he has for Friendswood.
“One thing I focus on,” said Peden, “is producing conservative results. All the talk in the world is useless without results, and I’ve been able to deliver.”
As Mayor Pro Tem of Friendswood, Peden’s biggest accomplishment is undoubtedly leading a major property tax refund effort for Friendswood residents, which came to a million dollars.
When asked about this tax refund, Peden replied, “That was a great success, but we can’t stop. I’m a firm believer in the Reagan Doctrine, in that the only way you limit government is to limit its money. But the great thing about what we’ve done up in Friendswood is to continually lower the tax rate to the lowest its been in 10 years, we’ve put about 12 new police on the streets, and Friendswood EMS was rated the best in Texas – all while balancing the budget.”
Peden has earned many fans in his time in public office. To date, nearly 30 elected officials, including four city mayors and numerous city councilmen and Republican officials have endorsed him, including David Smith, Mayor of the City of Friendswood. “Chris is a great person, and an excellent public official,” Smith said. “We couldn’t ask for a better, more dedicated conservative to represent us in Congress than Chris Peden, and we do need someone who will fight for our communities up there.”
When asked why he was running for Congress, Peden replied, “To get results. Conservative results. That’s all. Our current representative in Congress talks a great game, but when you look at his voting record, he isn’t getting any results, and he isn’t even conservative. Conservatives vote to give our troops body armor, but he votes against that. Conservatives don’t want to legalize heroin, but our sitting representative in Congress does. Most Texans support our troops and want our families protected. This district deserves someone who represents our values.”
Peden, a small business owner and CPA, has been married to his wife Jackie for 20 years, and together they have four children. Chris and his family have attended the Life Tabernacle Church for over 20 years.

Bump for a real conservative to replace Dr. Paul.
U.S. Rep. District 22 recommendation for Metro-Houston.
(Tom Delay's old seat currently held by 'rat Nick Lampson)
Go for it. We need to get as many real Conservatives in the legislative branch as possible and get rid of the moderate libertarians and liberals.
Pete Olson seems like a nice guy but he has a lot of ties inside the beltway and lots of money coming from out of state. He is getting a bad rap on the "carpetbagger" thing SKG is trying to hang him with
I never liked Talton much when he was in the legislature. I'd prefer someome that actually reads the laws before he votes for them.
Shelly Sekula Rodriguez Gibbs etc. has the attitude that she deserves the seat. She has been a hard worker but she is very creepy in person. I believe she was aweful to staff when she was in Washington for the short time she was.
Bazzy seems OK as far as the rest I'm not too impressed with the rest of the gaggle.
I'd like to see us send "regular" guys like Klock and Peden to Congress. That was the founder's idea in the first place.
Peden is as conservative as the come.
Yes, Shelly is running a Hillary-type "it's mine" campaign.
As long as we get a strong conservative to take back #22 from that rat Nick Lampson.
I sent an email to Lampson office right after the Limbaugh/Reid "Phony Soldier" storm complaining about the Rat spin and got a letter back stating "We, too, are disappointed Rush Limbaugh would disparage our troops".
...followed by returning their letter with more of my opinions.
I support Paul for Congress.
Nope. We should stay home and teach the GOP a lesson. /s
Disagree. Paul is the better choice. No more “compassionate” conservatives. We need at least one old fashioned paleo in congress, if not more.
You are right, but it is the Conservative part of PaleoConservative we need, not a moderate libertarian of the bircher strain.
Remove him if you like, just don’t point to the libertarian votes after you lose this time and say, “The libertarians are third party spoilers! Those votes would’ve gone to us!”
You make Obama proud.
I'm voting for Paul for congress. (I'm more concerned about some of the other elected Republicans in Brazoria county.) I am encouraging these young people to vote this way. In fact, many of these young people are "college" democrats [not my kids, their guests]. Paul has wide-opened an avenue to talk to these young adults. It has also opened up a great avenue to discuss conservative ideology. The constitution is being discussed around here in a ferverent and passionate fashion! (Including a law student on the grad level.)
Civics is being discussed a lot as well!
Young people that the Stupid Party (aka the GOP) will never see now thanks to their hatchet job of Paul.
So the youngsters will go back to being apathetic, while the GOP grows old and continue running liberal RINOs and complete its metamorphosis into the Democratic Party.
Just voted here for Paul in WI. I have no intention of voting for McStain.
BTW, for the first time in my life... I can't vote for a President as it stands. I will vote, but my candidate will be a write in in the general election unless something changes. That stinks. But like I tell these kids, nobody is going to get me to the point that I won't vote, nor vote unprincipled. Their biggest complaint is the corruption and uselessness of even trying. That's where apathy comes in. It is not an option. Which is the reason I hope this thing gets brokered. It is not only hope, but it is empowering. If not brokered, there is always a write in and other elected officials running. On the primary level, Texas at least gets a chance for some kinda input. The rest of the country, I hope we can pass it off to y'all!
Wow, this guy’s almost as conservative as John McCain!
