I recall reading something similar about 20 - 30 years ago in an archaeological review (scientific - not religious) journal.

There were several problems. The govt of Turkey would NOT permit at that time any one to go poking around up there .. no international teams, no scientific research. Period. Glad to see they did do a joint venture

and The pix I can recall were fairly interesting.. aerials with an image in ice. various views. The problem was that this area really never thawed & so all was encased in ice year round ..........just in “summer” less ice..

The warm season MIGHT permit opportunities to investigate if the proper permits could be secured (less Ice but apparently still encased). At that time I found it fascinating & frankly did not follow it anymore & just had my memory jarred when I saw this article.

If I am recalling correctly at the time there was a LOT of tension as air space was violated to get the pix. Now with satellite it would not be a problem

There was a series on tv “In Search of” hosted by Leonard Nimoy that publicized the possible location of the ark. The episode aired in 1979 called “Noah’s Flood”.

>>came out with “material evidence”, to prove that the Ark was nestled on Mount Ararat, Turkey’s highest mountain peak bordering Iran and Armenia<<

I wonder how they would prove its “the ark?”

Even if there is a boat there thats the right size, it would take a good bit more to show it was the original and not a copy and that it was used to transport all those different animal.

I would think they should find the DNA of hundreds of species of animals who live no where near the are on “the Ark.”

Now, I don’t doubt there was a local flood that was referenced in the Bible but even the base of what is called Mt Ararat today is 5000 feet above sea level and to be even a few thousand feet above that as part of a world wide flood would have left observable evidence.

Noah had it easy.

I had to ride it out on an ice floe. Man, I got tired of eating fish.

There's a story that the CIA/NRO put up a new satellite. I'm guessing that it was the first "digital" camera satellite. Somebody suggested tasking it on the alleged ark site.

It was done as a training and targeting exercise for the new tool, but they soon regretted the decision as it brought unwanted attention to them, both from a curious public, and idiot elected officials looking to point to alleged waste by the agencies.

And, the photo resolution quality was probably a secret that they didn't want released.

I don't know if they are still classified.

Maybe Creationists heads too, since this is a piece of petrified wood.

It is interesting that the wood would be petrified after such a short time, and without a silicate or lime layer over it.

Ping?

If more of this story comes out, I might be tempted to make a crypto-ping. Granted, it’s not a crypto-topic, but if true, it would be HUGE enough to justify one, methinks.

Why is it the “Holy Quran” and just the “Bible”. Shouldn’t it be the “Holy Bible”? Is the “Holy Bible” less holy than the “Guidebook for Terrorists”?

I was always under the impression that pretrification took hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years. Or maybe this is "partially petrified" wood...
