KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Heavy snow and slush has forced officials at Kansas City International Airport to close and cancel numerous flights.
Airport spokesman Joe McBride says the runways were closed around 6:30 a.m. Sunday when testing showed conditions were too slick to safely operate planes.
The airport sees about 440 flights a day.
Four inches of snow had fallen at Kansas City International as of 10 a.m. Forecasters predict snow will continue well into the afternoon.
"Only four? Where's that six to eight you promised me, Bob?!"
You Old Dog You.
So where do the 440 flights go now?
Well.....what a shame....we had a foot at our airport.....they did not shut down......northwest never gets weather coverage anyway.....
Probably nowhere until later this evening or tomorrow.
In Michigan we don’t even condescend to notice a mere four inches.
They’re promising 9-12” here in Madison, WI (holding fingers 2” apart), on top of 1/4 - 1” of ice.
(ahem)
This will take our snowfall amount to something north of 90” for the year. It’s remarkable that I haven’t heard anything about global warming this winter, in spite of a goodly number of leftie greenies here.
That means all you Muzzie cab drivers wash your feet at home!!
Four inches up in my neck of the woods is referred to as “snow flurries”.
Same here.
Ditto.
Double ditto.
I miss the snow on Long Island, usually get about 25” to 30” a year...My now 9 year old daughter has not been able to make a snow since she was 7 years old. Very sad.
I am anxious to hear about the Salmon runs this year.
The Marine Biologists were finding disease and zero populations in the last few years along our coast to N. Cali.
However the streams/rivers were also almost dry beds in the areas where the micro worm that causes spinning disease was highest.
Now with 358% over the normal snow pack we are expected to have 75 inches higher in in run off.
JMO but that could make for a healthy breeding and abundant return maybe even sending the Salmon to the now zero populated streams to mate the following year.
We will see.
So yeah Al Gorbal bite that.
What is the old 1970’s margarine commercial say:
It is not nice to full Mother Nature!
The weather kept me from attending my favorite aunt’s funeral in Topeka on Monday.
We have tornadoes, ayatollahs dropping dead, millions of pounds of frozen beef recalled, Iranians dropping the curse on Iranians, Kosovo declaring independence, 50,000 irregulars lined up on the border with Israel, and that is just this minute.
Boy isn’t that the truth.
Esp. here on the Coast on our local station our of Portland or the Tri State tv news.
I have to go to weather channel for a forcast that isn’t a blip.
(see my post here if you care too about my speculation on our Salmon runs)
It’s the speed of communication IMO that we all know all.
Yikes I wonder if that is getting close to the original eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of life.
