Wes Clark: McCain As Dangerous As Bush

“If you don’t think John McCain is just as dangerous in the White House as George W. Bush, think again.”

That’s how retired four-star General Wesley Clark begins a fundraising e-mail sent on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Clark, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2004 race, writes in his e-mail:

“McCain will not reverse the foreign policy mistakes of George Bush. He is content to leave us in Iraq, saying it’d be ‘fine by me’ if we were in Iraq for another 100 years. He is rash on using military force with Iran. He overplays the military card and doesn’t seem to appreciate that the real strength of the nation lies in our economy and in our values.”

In seeking contributions to the DSCC for this year’s Senate campaign, Clark says: “We have to be sure we have a Congress that will support a Democratic president but also one that, in the event of a John McCain presidency, has enough horsepower to ensure he can’t continue the policies of George W. Bush.

Very snappy hat, too! Somehow appropriate for someone who has so much blood on his hands.

See post #8 for the Advocate cover. : )

Talking to this guy, Grunthor, isn't worth the time it takes.

He says,

"Actually all kidding aside, I wanted an answer to the question....all I got was confrontation and idiotic posts."

So when you give him an answer (#98), he feels quite justified to sneer back,

"Expensive maintaining an empire."

Which strikes me as being what he intended all along. Maybe he's a Ron Paul disciple or maybe he's a troll.

Either way, his is a deadend conversation.

I agree. "Stupid" isn't the right word. I'm a bit...disillusioned these days with the GOP in general. It's affecting my overall attitude towards anything political. Hope you'll understand.

At least I made an effort to understand the man's epic vision. History will sort that out in time.

“Freedom isn’t free.”

Be darned if I can see how having this many troops in Europe this long after the Soviets fell makes any sense. And in Japan/Okinawa? Do we even HAVE an enemy to worry about there? Korea I can almost see because of the dangerous regime in Pyong Yang, not that they are a threat to invade US.

But to speak directly to your point “freedom isn’t free.” No it is not, but what does having our forces spread out all over the world have to do with our freedom here in the United States? Can you name for me an enemy that has the will and the means to take it from us?

I’m hoping he’s more dangerous - to the forces that align against the USA, including the rats.
