Clinton slams Obama for not agreeing to debate in Wisconsin

By REID MAGNEY and SAMANTHA MARCUS | La Crosse Tribune

. Sen. Hillary Clinton criticized Democratic presidential rival Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday for refusing to debate in Wisconsin before Tuesday’s primary.

“I think the people of Wisconsin would like to have a say before anyone declares themselves the nominee,” Clinton told reporters on a conference call from Ohio. “They deserve to hear us debate.” A new television ad has Clinton accusing Obama of ducking an invitation to debate in Wisconsin. The candidates have debated 18 times, most recently before the California primary, which Clinton won.

The Illinois senator already has campaigned in Wisconsin, while Clinton has yet to make a personal appearance.

She announced Thursday she’ll spend four days in Wisconsin, starting Saturday.

Daughter Chelsea and husband and former President Bill Clinton both have campaigned for her in Wisconsin.

Clinton said she gladly would have come sooner had Obama agreed to a debate.

A streak of wins in the Potomac primaries Tuesday propelled Obama ahead of the New York senator, who’s campaigning in Ohio and Texas, where she leads in recent polls.

Hillary Clinton said Obama doesn’t want to answer questions about weaknesses in his health care plan she contends overlooks 15 million people.

“I think Sen. Obama will be at a tremendous disadvantage going into a debate with McCain over health care,” she said, adding she’s better prepared to “go toe-to-toe” with Sen. John McCain, the front-runner for the Republican nomination, on issues such as national security and universal health care.

Funny how she didn’t want to debate when she thought she was winning.

Yup, I’ll bet she grinds her teeth at night these days. But I’m not volunteering to find that out. I nominate Aviator. Her hubby certainly couldn’t tell us.

Regarding last paragraph is Hillary giving Barry advice, criticizing him or both?

Obama should retort, "You should visit Wisconsin some time - the people are really nice."

If I volunteered to do that, I think I would be turned to a pillar of salt by the morn.

Doesn’t really matter. Hillary’s done. Rendered, garroted, fileted ... The only question is how the Clinton braintrust will somehow play her complete, utter, multi-bazillion failure as a success. I’m sure they’re hard at it right now.

So where is it that Hill and Barry are going to debate next Thursday?
CNN is advertizing it with all the bells and whistles..
I didn’t catch where though.

And one of those clowns won't talk while the other won't stop talking.

Some D strat. one Becks show today claimed she would make it by the count of the SuperDelegates.

BTW I found out it is Austin Texas next Thurs. evening that CNN is covering the Barry/Hill debate.

I would like to watch it for the entertainment factor and to watch how he reacts to her.

Seems in the past he almost poses a bit turned away from her.

Maybe if she wore a Burka to the debate he could look her way. /off color remark

The losing side always wants more debates.

In the case of Democratic debates, it’s all about he said she said, never real issues.

You won’t hear a peep out of her regarding “border security” or specifics about Iraq, only that she will BEGIN to bring the troops home when elected.

I love seeing her implode like this...

“I think the people of Wisconsin would like to have a say before anyone declares themselves the nominee,” Clinton told reporters on a conference call from Ohio.

I believe the statement actually went like this:

You know, I think the people of Wisconsin would like to have a say before anyone, you know, declares themselves the nominee,” Clinton told reporters on a conference call from Ohio.
