The HUGE, HUGE difference today versus 1976 is that Obama or the Evil Witch would do far more damage than Peanut Head did, AND, that there is no Ronald Reagan magicaly popping up in 2012. If he’s not here today, he won’t be there in 2012. Reagan spent 20+ years setting up for the 1980 election.

...Obama or the Evil Witch would do far more damage than Peanut Head did...

I'll assume you lived through the late 70's. What makes you think things could get worse than that? It was spectacularly bad.

We face possible destruction of our country (an Iranian nuke in Manhatten would pretty much wipe out our economy) and many on her are going to let Obama allow this to happen because the Republican candidate is not ideal (but he will try to protect us from our mortal enemies).

How inane.

VERY well put. I thought about that recently. The men who will become president in the next 10-15 years are probably already public figures in some regard. They may not be nationally known but they are out there. People like Bobby Jindal maybe, but it will take some years of seasoning before he's ready for POTUS. I don't know who is on the bench for the GOP right now that looks good for 2012.

And that, to my mind, is the fault of conservatives. Over the period from 1990 until now we have failed to find and develop and promote conservative leaders the way conservative Americans did during the 1960s and 1970s. The left took over the schools and the culture and we conservatives have retreated and gone into our shells. We need to reassert outselves across the board.

I agree with the entirety of your post. An R loss here will mean decades of ruin, because there IS no Ronald Reagan on the horizon. The DEMS sh!t a JFK surrogate in 4 years, we don’t work that way.

Plus, realistically if a Rat wins this year, we’re looking at 16 years of Radical RAt rule. There won’t be anywhere near a political opening in 2012.
