(CNN) Mitt Romney predicted Sunday his party's conservative base will rally behind him on Super Tuesday in order to prevent John McCain from winning the Republican nomination.
"What I have to do is continue to see what's been happening the last few days, specifically that is conservatives across the country are saying, 'whoa, we have to get behind Mitt Romney,'" he said on CNN's Late Edition.
"You've got people like Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham and the list goes on and on and on Hugh Hewitt, Lars Larson conservative voices, both from radio and from publications, are saying, 'you know what, we've got to get behind Mitt Romney,'" he continued. "We really can't afford John McCain as the nominee of our party."

“Mitt! He believes that too!”
Romney endorsed McCain today. What say you?
Hmmmm.
Sort of like people who said “A Bush presidency will be very dangerous for America!” in 1999 then became his biggest supporters in 2000.
Weird.
BTTT
Yep! its spred all over no matter where you go and try to be positive their will always be those who want their selfish ways or no way....
the air waves and media even the internet keeps this country in a perpetual state of depression with its everyday doom and gloom and faultfinding!
Lord forbit and how dare those try to exercise faith and doing good, that will not make up for a personal temper tantrum that never seems to stop!
Let’s just keep beating the horse they help murder!
This craven behavior is either wanton which mean wanting America to fail or gaurantee that America will fail!
It takes a lot of mental contortions to get that out of any comparison between Reagan and Romney.
It was quite tiring to see people all the time tout Romney as the new Reagan.
Anything RR did doesn't come any way near the title "untrustworthy flipper".
Romney continues to show he owns (and has "honestly" earned it) that title.
I think more what they can't stand is someone lumping them all together and speaking for them.
I do think if you put Romney in a time machine and stood him next to Reagan in the period of time of which you speak, there would be a chasm between them worlds wide.
Or put the Reagan of that day in this time frame next to Romney, you would see the same thing.

Many of us had hoped you had gotten a handle on that tantrum stuff.
I'm sorry you are so full of doom and gloom and faultfinding and hope you can find some time to relax and have a better outlook and attitude
Well, now that you put it THAT way...
It is nauseating.
I wanted Thompson for his conservative values.
I knew he could never win.
I wanted Romney for the closest thing to conservative values we had in the running.
He couldn’t win.
I don’t want McCain. But he won’t win either.
I don’t want Hill/Bill or Obama.
But Obama will win.
Unless, somehow, someway, Mitt gets the VP nod.
Then, maybe, someday, somehow, the most conservative of them all could wind up as President.
That’s all I can hope for right now in terms of the next four years.
For me, sitting out and handing it over to the Dems, or, voting for one of them, is not an option.
My lady and I will be in MA (and NH) this coming weekend, and as for me, all the water I will be drinking will have been converted to beer first!
I knew I’d come to hate myself further for voting for him in the NY primary...sigh...
:)Bump.
Really ShutupSlapHappyPappy.
Owen sucks.
“What sense does this make? Where were these websites 1 month ago when there was still a competently funded candidate to stop him?
Truth is FR doesnt really care about McCain or Amnesty. There was a candidate available with the funding and organization to stop McCain and FR didnt 100% back him. They preferred to look for something else because FR never made it a 100% TOTAL goal to stop McCain. FR got into the attitude of . . . oh, well stop McCain if we have to, maybe, but wed like to flail around with a handful of other candidates who havent demonstrated the ability to organize a successful campaign meaning, we dont really care about McCain and Amnesty To The Exclusion Of All Else.
FR chose not to galvanize opposition to McCain. The RNC didnt do this. The elite didnt do this. FR did it. FR didnt really care about McCain opposition in a total way. There was weakness in that opposition and a preference to posture rather than seek victory.”Oh my Gosh if he joins Hill-only kidding Owen.I can just hear his voice.
Snort! And if the die-hard Romney supporters get their way, we'll get more of the multiple-choice technocrat in 2012. This primary season worked so well, so let's turn around and do it again!
Since FDT's departure, Romney was the only one that would have governed as a conservative... and folks like you have thrown him under the bus
It's really curious that you seek to blame others, when the blame lies at the feet of folks like yourself... Have a good day
Exactly... Gee, I wonder... When Reagan list in ‘76, didn’t he rally behind the winner? Everyone does it.
