I spent years working in Sycamore. Now retired living in Rochelle. If you haven’t been back to the area since the 70’s, you’d be surprised how the area around the 4-lane between DeKalb/Sycamore has built up. Nothing like it once was.
2002 NIU grad here....that area would be packed...
I graduated from NIU and I still know people who work there.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A statement posted at 3:50 p.m. on the university’s Web site said “several people” had been taken away by ambulance.
Dominique Broxton, 22, a student from Oak Park, said she could see two wounded students from her dorm room.”
Police are saying the campus is now secure.

ARTICLE SNIPPET:”Its has been confirmed that there has been a shooting on campus and several people have been taken away by ambulance,” the school said in a posting on its DeKalb campus Web site. “All classes are canceled on the DeKalb campus. People are urged not to come to campus.””
If the gunman shot every student and professor at NIU, it wouldn’t make the slightest impression on liberals who believe that outlawing guns on campus makes us safe. Gun-free campuses are like pens of lambs, with the wolves strolling in whenever they wish.

I was a small tyke when we lived there, so had I seen a streaker, I probably would have missed the humor all together. Don’t recall the lagoon.
