This is societal evolution, not the end of the world, although the world is always ending for somebody.
It's 1917
It's Cambodia under Mr Pot.
It's the man with the funny mustache.
Famous last words of vitims of 'evolution'.
The dismissive assurance of tyrants and murderers.
You have, indeed, hit the nail squarely.

No, not the end of the world - just the end of the America our forefathers handed down generation to generation.
When the time comes, who in America is prepared to pick up arms and head into the streets to fight those selling out our heritage and those taking what they want?
It is the "warehoused old men lying in cots" and those on the way there who are probably the group most willing to defend their families and way of life.
Will they stand alone?
The minute Americans rise up to push back the selling of the country by the small people who infest Washington and the ransacking of America by the greedy and the hate mongers, the federal government will unleash our own military on the citizenry.
"When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil."
"Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

Hear! Hear! And a vitally important thing to remember. When all is said and done, history shows that "societal evolution" is simply a reshuffling of the deck. An umbrella event coving a series of events that takes place whenever massive, never-before-imagined changes occur,i.e., the mastery of fire, the wheel, the printing press, the automobile, etc. IMHO, the societal evolution we are passing through is brought to us by the computer.
