TIME: The Meaning Of Obama's Momentum
TIME Magazine ^ | Feb. 13, 2008 | By DAVID VON DREHLE

**EXCERPT**

The old head-scratcher — what happens if an irresistible force meets an immovable object? — now gets its test in the Democratic presidential primary.

The force is Barack Obama. His sweep of the Potomac primaries in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC on Tuesday gives him seven straight wins since Super Tuesday, not to mention his first lead in pledged delegates. Unprecedented amounts of money are pouring into his campaign coffers. He now has momentum that any challenger would envy in any year. Indeed, in any other year, a candidate with his numbers would have the nomination locked up tight.

But standing in his way is the adamantine Hillary Clinton, whose organization, decades in the making, is deeply rooted from coast to coast. She's as easy to knock over as the Great Wall.

Ya think because 70% think the country is going in the wrong direction and Clinton is 35 years of yesterday?

Political rock, paper, scissors.

Ear covers cankle. Mad dog eats ears. Republicans win.

For me, the picture that’s out there of him ignoring the solemnity of our national anthem while the other Demmycrat stooges actually had their hands over their chest speaks volumes about the guy.

He’s so anti-American that it stinks . . . a cookie-cutter liberal . . . not yet smart enough to be a communist . . . but has all the trappings needed to be a socialist, the difference being that a communist KNOWS what he’s doing.

But that picture should be the main poster for demolishing the creep. Hope the stupid party (Republicans) have big enough gonads to use the picture.

All this “means” is that the ‘Rats have finally figured out that the Clinton’s best interests and their best interests have NEVER been the same.

And the ‘Rat party leaders are breathing a sigh of relief that it’s the voters who are ousting the Clintons because they were too afraid to do it themselves.

Hillary has to revive “The Hillary I Know” campaign. Get her mother back out there on the campaign trail, telling us she would vote for Hillary even if she weren’t her daughter.

Hillary needs to get Bill out there more, and let Bill tell us that Obama is just a black candidate. Let Bill compare Obama to Jesse Jackson.

Hillary needs to tell us more about how she is a change agent. She needs to reinforce the message that while some candidates only hope for change, or demand change, that she knows you have to work hard for change.

Hillary needs to get Chelsea out there more, but not allow Chelsea to meet with reporters. Not even 9 year old school newspaper reporters.

Hillary should have her lackeys get out there and say they are afraid that Republicans will bring up Obama’s youthful drug use. Not that they themselves want to talk about such delicate subjects, of course, but just to warn us that Republicans will be ruthless.

And finally, Hillary should act as if this nomination is owed her somehow, and act like she is the inevitable nominee, no matter what happens in the primaries. And if she does lose any primaries or caucuses, she should just cackle and say those particular states don’t matter, for this and that reason.

Funny how the Obama surge has happened simultaneous to Bill's relative disappearance from the campaign trail. Coincidence?

There’s big money behind Obama but nobody knows who it is. There isn’t enough grass roots money around to beat the Hillary machine when it comes to raising money. I’m wondering if Soros isn’t behind him.

It’s about the ultimate aphrodisiac- power.

The media, knows that BHO is an intellectual and leadership lightweight. They’d be able to maipulate him and shape the agenda to their own desire (w/ plausible deniabilty).

And of course, they’re geting on the bandwagon of a peceived winner

When one considers who is running against Obama for the nomination it does to take a genius to figure out why his momentum might be growing. Not that he would be much better but people are terrified of the other candidate running.

There's a thread around here somewhere that claims Soros is bankrolling Obama.

Does anybody know what’s the polls between ‘Bama and Hellary in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania? Does she have double-digit leads in these states?

I want ‘Bama to win. But if he lost, I’d like to see him lost by a small margin so he could get a share of the delegates from OH, TX, and Pennsylvania.

I just don’t want to see Hellary get nominated.
