Anti-McCain forces rally on the Web
Wash Times ^ | 2/13/08 | Steve Dinan

Posted on 02/13/2008 11:56:11 AM PST by pissant

The competition for anti-John McCain Web sites is so stiff that those looking to register new ones say the best names have already been snatched up.

"Virtually every one we thought of was taken," said Robert Shoemaker, who said his site RepublicansAgainstMaverickMcCain.com will go active this week. "The first one we wanted to do was Republicans Against McCain just short and sweet. That wasn't available, and we worked all the way around different labels we could use, none of them were available."

In the end Mr. Shoemaker, who held signs at last weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference protesting Mr. McCain's immigration policy, said he and his partners settled on the somewhat cumbersome name in order to preserve a version of the acronym RAM.

At last check StopMcCain.com, NoWayMcCain.com, ConservativesAgainstMcCain.com and RepublicansAgainstMcCain.com are all taken, as is IHateMcCain.com and the pointed VietnamVeteransAgainstJohnMcCain.com.

Conservatives who cost McCain the presidency will be reviled and exiled following the election.

You've got the reviled part pretty well underway, but the exile will have to wait until you see if you can complete the hostile takeover of what was once the home of conservatism - the republican party.

I'm sorry, boss, but I'm not going to stay on your plantation as a slave. If I stay, it will be as a partner. A full partner. Not a silent, no choice lemming like I am evidently supposed to be now in 2008.

If you have a problem with that, you can exile yourself to whatever party you feel will kiss your rear end sufficiently to make you feel better.

I hate saying "stuff" like that, but thanks! I hope JR lets End Times Crusader stay around long enough to finally have to admit to what we've already observed. Maybe he/she will actually become USEFUL afterwards!

Well said, except I disagree with The GOP is in the throws of death. We're watching it now, in spite of people who blindly claim that it isn't so.

I recall that we didn't do so well in 1992, and that there was a significant minority of the non-moonbat population who refused to vote for Bush the elder. Clinton still didn't get much of anything done his first two years, except DADT in the military, and the tax hike, both of which led to......

1994.

It appears to me that this is just another of periodic recalibrations of the GOP. Right about the time the moderates who stand for nothing start gaining power within the party, we start losing elections.

After a few losses in a row, the conservative base retakes the party, and the party begins to win more elections.

Rinse and repeat.

His kind don’t “get the message.” He and his ilk are just here to prop up McShamnesty and justify the illegal alien invasion.

I personally HOPE you're right! I only say these things because I've spoken to far too many people in the past several weeks who have supported the GOP for 30 yrs+ who have told me that they are ABANDONING them.

The combination of dire circumstance that we're currently observing, and the "net" (as it is) creates an environment where people can absorb a LOT of information very quickly. Sometimes TOO quickly. It can be a blessing, or a curse. So far, it's starting to look like a curse this time around.

But like I said, I hope you're right.

More pontificating from the self-righteous, control freak, power hungry ‘center’. ‘Center’ by you and your ilk’s self-anointed, self-appointed definition that is.

Which is just a revomiting of the old ‘centrist’ scam: declare yourself to be the middle, call everyone else extreme, and demand that you deserve power because of that. Let’s call it for what it is: the country club, blue blood, limousine liberal, rights for me but not for you, go along to get along, business as usual, good-old-boy network.

That can’t be any more obvious than in your ‘analysis’ of the 2006 election. The GOP lost because it became the other party of big govt and fiscally irresponsible, and beholden to special interests. It lost votes of anyone who wants fiscal responsibility and integrity in govt regardless of their overall place in the spectrum: left, right, AND center.

Your tin plate chest beating only shows what a paper tiger the country club set is. You don’t need us ‘extremists’ while you demand we get in line and vote for you and the Democrat wannabe John Arnold Schwarzenegger McCain.

Sorry pal, the king has no clothes. Your sad little candidate is going to go down in the dust, and then we are going to rebuild for 2010. Because the future of the GOP is with the conservatives.

So go ahead and try and build your little coalition, one dedicated to drifting-ever-left and growing government for the good-old-boys power and enrichment. It will fall flat on it’s face. I’ll enjoy watching the little pissy pants, temper tantrum throwing, meglomaniac ‘center’ as it’s left to the dustbin of history.

“Anyone who insists on trying to derail McCain’s campaign will find that avenues of opportunity will suddenly be closed off to them. Conservatives who cost McCain the presidency will be reviled and exiled following the election.”

LOL! You are entertaining, I’ll give you that. Calling us childish didn’t work, so now you’re trying threats. Do tell, exactly what “avenues of opportunity will suddenly be closed off?” I’m dying to know.

If we “extremists” are so irrelevant, why are you here every day exhorting to to get behind McCain?

It’s very sad and quite discouraging, to say the least.

My oldest daughter for the first time in her life, will be voting for president...and she is quite discouraged about what she has to “pick” from.
