While I understand the sentiment and speaking as a bastard myself...
...there are only illegitimate parents...not illegitimate kids.

it’s a bit wordy to say “put of wedlock children”
illegitimate is a lot more polite than bastard
and has been in use for centuries
but now worries, being born out of wedlock which as you rightly pointed out is not the child’s fault barely carries any scorn for mom anymore either.
i see nothing to celebrate about the rise of children out of wedlock in our culture.
i have 5 kids and lived a full younger life and took great care to try not to do that
That’s right! My dad was also born out of wedlock and it sure wasn’t HIS fault.
