it’s a bit wordy to say “put of wedlock children”

illegitimate is a lot more polite than bastard

and has been in use for centuries

but now worries, being born out of wedlock which as you rightly pointed out is not the child’s fault barely carries any scorn for mom anymore either.

i see nothing to celebrate about the rise of children out of wedlock in our culture.

i have 5 kids and lived a full younger life and took great care to try not to do that

In seeking out my parents’ Norwegian genealogy, I found a few cases of out of wedlock births. They seemed to just accept it and take care of them, or family members did.

Well, I’d rather have someone call me a bastard than to diminish me to the status of illegitimate.

Even better...and maybe best of all...rather have the blame placed where it correctly belongs....”born of adulterous parents”.

Again...that’s just my opinon though.
