Best in show TRIBUNE-REVIEW By: Salena Zito
In the most significant stunner of the evening, Uno the beagle won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this evening at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Unos victory is considered a moral victory; he broke canine breed lines by becoming the first beagle to ever win best in show at

Travesty... Should have been between two poodles (standard and toy) and, possibly, Weimaraner which one commentator kept mispronouncing.
Not a great show overall this year, disappointment.
Are you a huge dog-lover or did you get demoted?
TTIUWP! ;-) A little help here? :-)
I’ve owned Beagles and Uno is an awesome and awesome choice.
No just after two years of covering the race for POTUS I thought I would have a litte fun. Read the whole post, there is a great video attached, that is it is great if you liked the movie “Best in Show”
The judge went with the crowd’s choice, the Beagle. Uno is a nice Beagle, but I’d have gone with the Weim or the Aussie. The poodles were OK, but not that great on movement. The Weim is the all-time greatest ( in number of shows won) ever. That Aussie was good, too, but it’s hard to tell beyond movement, because of all that hair. That’s the Weim’s biggest disadvantage as a show dog. You cannot hide any flaws with their thin coat. Everything HAS to be right. Which is why it is rare to see one win a BIS.
I find it amazing that the total BIS count for the finalists was over 330 shows won combined. That’s a LOT of shows.
Those poodles were the most obnoxious-looking things I’ve ever seen (as are all similarly-cut Poodles).
I’m glad the Beagle won. Snoopy Jr. at least had some personality. ...and looked like a dog, not like a French Fruit.
I was struck by the Borzoi.
But Uno was cute as a bug. Nice white feet.

It was hardly a “stunner”. The press have been covering Uno as if he had won already for a couple of days now. I’d have given him the odds-on favorite status. He certainly had the crowd’s backing, too, which DOES mean something.
“I can’t stand the way those poodles are groomed! I’m glad a dog won that looks like a dog!!!”
Amen to that!!!
No doggie pictures?
Oops. Spoke too soon.
Loved the movie. (Loved “A Mighty Wind” and “This is Spinal Tap”, too.) And I love your POTUS work. Just wanted to make sure I could look forward to more of your stuff during the upcoming race. West Coast’s Biggest Fan!
Very cute expression he has.
:)
thank you and good night
A dog might be a better presidential candidate than what we have to choose from.
