I agree with one and two, but not number three. The Bible is pretty clear that will not happen, although it does say that if God had not shortened the days then something similar would have happened.

Meanwhile, my message is not “I told you so”. Rather it is to point out that, in the current world, the “babylon” discussed in Revelation 17 and 18 looks an awfully lot like the current US. And a very interesting line within that text is Revelation 18:4,5:

“Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, so you will not take part in her sins and so you will not receive her plagues, because her sins have piled up all the way to heaven and God has remembered her crimes.”

It reminds me of the 1930’s where many Jews left Germany while others thought they were overreacting. Later, millions learned otherwise - the hard way.

As Claire Wolfe said, albeit tongue in cheek, “it is too late to work within the system”. Our irrepairably broken “system” is the current two party democrat/republican paradigm. Neither side has anything in common with the vision of our founding fathers. This goes all the way down to city politics in most of the country. It is utterly corrupt.

I have this premonition that the old farts and purists boycott this election like they did two years ago. Michael Savage egged on his listeners then by saying that no republican deserves to win since congress is spending out of control and Bush can't control the borders. Republicans lost due to "purist egos".

In this next election - more seats are lost to the democrats and homeland security goes down the drain. The libs pull out of the middle east leaving an uncontrollable hell hole. Russia steps in to provide some semblance of security, ends up nuking the east and left US coasts (to stop the liberal tendency for suicidal disorganization), and then china and muslim dominated Europe in order to stabilize (finalize?) the spiraling downward world situation. No one wants to see a nuclear armed Islamic caliphate threatening Russia, the US or anywhere else in the world.

Of course Russia gets hit hard by our submarine missle launches but they survive the attack better than we do.

All this is left at the feet of "conservatives' who would rather be "right" than survive and have a future for their descendants.

I am alarmed about being grouped with utopian conservatives who can't comprehend the reality that power flows from the end of a gun - not from the hot air rhetoric of the naively introspective.

Basing political and survival strategeries on biblical verses is not a plan. We are not here to interpret, promote, expand on or second guess the writings in a book. We are here to survive and promote the spirit of Christ. The bible is not like the Koran. It is not the only source of spiritual authority on earth. To believe that is to be reduced to a talmudic or koranic scholar who goes blind reading others writings about the past....

I agree with the third sentence. I agree with your point in your second sentence regarding the specific points of “promote”, “expand” and “second guess”. I disagree with the rest. Quite strongly actually.

Are you Unitarian?

I am not a bible-first Christian. Not everyone thinks that quoting scripture solves problems, illumiates the situation etc. Especially any references to 'end times'. Isn't it dangerous to assume the intention of scripture? Too many people base their reality on imagining that they are living in the 'end times'. They believe every jot and tittle written in 'the bible' is the word of 'god'. Disagree with them an you are a heretic, or ignorant.

The parallel example is the extreme brainwashing of kids memorizing the koran in blab schools. All they know is this or that verse and how the world is going to end and we are all going to hell if we don't do this or that. It's counter productive and socio-pathic to have to deal with 'mind-numbed end-times' robots. Too many denominations base their entire reality on biblical verse. Look up from a book and see the works of christ in the world we live in - not the world someone else interpreted to their own satisfaction, years ago.

I tried to watch BS a few times, but it was
too crude. Made me ashamed to agree with them.

I knew it well! I’ve actually met both a couple of times now and had some great conversations with them.

Watch their Showtime show Bulls***!, the themes are VERY libertarian.

PENN & TELLER ARE LIBERTARIANS. WHO KNEW???

I did. Jillette is also an atheist, if I recall correctly. Sort of a younger James Randi character.
