More than 650 people have died and others have suffered such severe frostbite they have had limbs amputated in Afghanistan's most bitter winter for years.
Afghanistan's statistics mark this year as the coldest in a decade - but that is only as far back as the national weather records go, and many believe it is the harshest winter in 30 years.
In a hospital in Herat several men lay side by side in hospital beds, their arms and legs freshly-bandaged stubs after being amputated.

I mean it’s about time..the climate operates on a cycle and warming and cooling periods based solar cycles happen about every 10,000 years and the last Ice Age was about 10,000 years ago.

Poor kid. This sort of thing probably happens/happened with regularity over the years, but the media was not there to report it. The people for the most part are smart in areas where they live but not educated to things that will improve their ways of living. islam does not treat it’s believers well, it keeps them illerate. That’s why it’s been so easy for the taliban and alquaida to control those areas. Hopefully the boy can be fitted with prosthesises so he can make a living.
